Cole/Wilhelm benefit game pits
Exeter Hawks against Sherwoods
EXETER - The
Exeter Jr. D Hawks and
Hensall Sr. A
Sherwoods are lacing
up to remember
Lawrence Cole and
Chris Wilhelm.
The Hawks and
Sherwoods will play a
friendly, non -contact
game on Friday to ben-
efit charities Cole's and
Wilhelm's families have
identified they want
donations to go to.
Hawks secretary Anne
Sullivan said all pro-
ceeds from the game
will go towards South
Huron Hospital's
portable ventilator unit
(on behalf of Cole's fam-
ily) and London's
Children's Hospital (on
behalf 'of Wilhelm's
family).
The puck will drop for
the LCW (Lawrence
Cole/Chris Wilhelm)

ing all along," he said.
"Discipline."
The powerplay was
the obvious difference in
the series. When either
team got into penalty
trouble, the opposing
powerplay usually hit
paydirt.
Lucan moves to the
second round against
Mitchell who polished off
Seaforth 4-0 in game
seven at Mitchell
Saturday.
Seaforth forced game
six by winning 3-1 at
Mitchell March 2 and
forced game seven by
winning 6-1 at home
Friday.
Although Mitchell fin-
ished second at the end
of the regular season
and Seaforth a distant
third, Bourne said most
of his players prefer
playing Mitchell.
Seaforth has knocked
Lucan out of the playoffs
for the last three consec-
utive years.
The Irish won the sea-
son series versus both
Mitchell and Seaforth
four games to one. In
fact, Lucan won each of
its season series versus
Yeck Conference teams
four games to one.
Bourne said his team
needs to .continue to
focus on discipline ver-
sus Seaforth who will
probably throw both bar-`
rels at Lucan.
The. Irish would use
more line-up matches
and other tactical moves
versus Mitchell who have
more players to key in
on, he said.
Lucan will host game
one tonight at 8:15 p.m.;
game. two is at Mitchell
Friday at 8:30 p.m.;
Game three is at Lucan
Saturday, 8:15 p.m.;
game four is at Mitchell,
March 15, 8:15 p.m.;
Game five (if neces-
sary) is at Lucan, March
17, 8:15 p.m.; game six
(if /necessary) is at
Mitchell, March 19, 8:30
p.m.; game seven (if nec-
essary) is at Lucan,
March 20, 8:15 p.m.
Bogart said one thing
he has learned from the
Lucan series is just mak-
ing the playoffs isn't
good enough.
"The regular season is
something we have to
pay attention to," he
said. "Focussing on the
playoffs hinders develop-
ment during the regular
season."
He added there should
have been more atten-
tion paid to all aspects of
the game during the reg-
ular season, not the least
of which is defensive
zone coverage and what•
his players do when they
don't have the puck.
Despite the quick exit
out of the playoffs,
Bogart feels his team
played some good hock-
ey.
"Lucan maybe is a lit-
tle deeper (talent -wise),"
he said. "But when we
were playing our game
we stuck with them."
Hawks captain Bill
Hodge and Andy Glavin
played their last official
games for the Hawks last
week since they played
as overagers this season.
