The average Canadian drinks 100
litres of pop each year. A 355m1 can
of non -diet pop contains about 10 to
spoons of sugar. March is Nutrition
Month and good time to think of healthy alterna-
tives to pop like fruit juices and milk.
By the way, sugar contributes to obesity because
sweetened foods are high in calories. That can of
pop contains 150 calories.
When you make a list of medications you take reg-
ularly, include herbal medications as well. Many of
these products have definite actions in our body
and could reinforce or work against other drugs
you are taking.
Many tablet medications are going high-tech and
must be swallowed whole to obtain the best
effect. Some have special coatings to reduce gas-
tric
side effects. Others have formulations that ,
give a long duration of action. Splitting these med-
ications would not be advised. If in doubt check
with your Pharmacist.
