Zurich skaters passed
ZURICH — Zurich and Area Figure
Skating Club members continued
their development by passing tests at
last week's Test Day.
Results: Tanya Prang passed Preliminary
Freeskate, Fiesta and Class 7 Skill; Lauren Smith
passed Preliminary Freeskate and 14 -Step; Jessica
Geoffrey and Scott Kipfer passed Dutch Waltz;
Megan Hearn passed Baby Blues and Class 7 Skill;
Jenna DeGroot and Kendra Smith passed Swing;
Anna Pryde passed Class 4 Skill; Jenna Becker
passed Class 6 Skill.
Panther wrestlers advance
PARKHILL —The South Huron District High
School wrestling team brought home a bus-ful of
medals from the conference finals at Parkhill last
week.
First to fourth place finishers advance to WOSSA.
Gold medalists: Brian Gielen (44 kg), Darryl
Weiss 47.5 kg), Brian Harrigan (54 kg); silver
medalists: Josh Heywood (67.5 kg), Bryan Evans
(unlimited), Shannon VanRompaey (girls 75 kg);
bronze medalists: Brad Harrigan (54 kg), Leigh
Holdsworth 67.5 kg), Luke Shantz (72 kg), Mike
Eagleson (77 kg), Mike Skinner (84 kg); fourth
place finishes: Bram Steele (54 kg), Andrew
Kinsmen (72 kg), Ryan Groote (77 kg), Adam Cyr
(84 kg) and Cal deLange.
The South Huron boys finished second in the
team standings.with 156 points. Parkhill North
Middlesex placed first with 185 points.
GB Micro Speedway meeting
LONDON — It's time to start gearing up for
another fun and. fast season at Grand Bend Micro
Speedway.
Anyone interested in the upcoming season are
invited to the '99 general meeting is set for Feb.
28, 1 p.m., at London Sportsplex, 2519 Fanshawe
Park Rd. E.
Registration for the '99 season will be done at
the meeting.

Bantam Lakers beat Chatham
CLINTON — The Huron -Perth 'AAA' Bantam
Lakers hope to build on the weekend's success.
The Lakers went 1-1-1 over their three second
round playoff games versus Chatham on the
weekend. Huron -Perth lost 6-5 in overtime in
Clinton Friday, tied 1-1 in. Chatham on Saturday
and won 7-3 in Clinton Sunday.
Jesse Schroeder had two goals and an assist over
the weekend. Derek Taylor, Nick Haberer and
Daryl Bourne each had a.goal and an assist and
Paul Dagg had an assist.
The Lakers next home game is in Clinton at 4:30
p.m. on Sunday.
Campbell continues to Rocket
STRATHROY — Her>sall's Jeff Campbell
continues to tear up the Western Jr. B League with
the Strathroy Rockets.
Campbell scored a hat -trick and added an assist
in his team's 6-3 home win over the Aylmer Aces
Sunday in their first round playoff series. The
series is tied 1-1 with game three in Strathroy
tonight, game four in Aylmer Saturday and game
five in Strathroy Sunday.

team had fun at their own
party Saturday.

Club hosted the I2th
annual Bernie Deveau
Memorial Adult Precision
Competition at South
Huron Rec Centre
Saturday.

seventh in the gold final
out of nine teams ahead
of the only other recre-
ational team and one
comppetitive team-

their flight earlier in the

Classiques in the flight.
Classiques coach Kathy
Mcllwain said the top five
teams in the gold final
will likely occupy similar
spots at the Canadian
championships next
month in Montreal.
McIlwain said she's
proud of her skaters.
"My adults couldn't
have skated any better,"
she said.
Mcllwain Said all the
judges asked her why the
Classiques aren't a com-
petitive team. The main
reason is six of the
Classiques are underage
for adult competitions.
"That's our goal for the
future," Mcllwain said of
turning competitive.
