at the Huron -Perth final
tournament on Friday in
Stratford.
The midgets lost just
one game on their way to
finishing first in their
pool. They then beat
Clinton in the semi-final
15-11, 2-15 and 16-14.
But the Panthers lost a
nail -biter of a final to
Stratford Central 15-10,
10-15 and 7-15.
The midgets finished
league play by winning
four of six games versus
host Clinton St. Anne's
and Goderich on
Thursday.
The junior girls went 1-
2 versus St. Anne's and
came up on the wrong
end of long rallies versus
Goderich but managed a
15-8 victory in the second
game and a close 13-15
defeat in the third game.
The juniors finished the
season
winding down
regular season with a 13-
17 record and head to the
Huron playoffs at
Wingham F.E. Madill on
Thursday.
The senior girls won
two out of three over St.
Anne's with scores 15-10,
8-15 and 15-6. The
seniors dropped two of
three to Goderich 6-15,
15-6 and 2-15.
The seniors finished the
regular season with a 15-
15 record, good for third
place in Huron . one win
behind Goderich.
The Panthers will face
Goderich in their semi-
final at Madill on
Thursday. The winner
qualifies for the Huron -
Perth tournament on Feb.
23.
On Feb. 9 the senior
girls took three games
from St. Anne's 15-8, 15-
4 and 15-12. The midget
girls also won all three
games versus St. Anne's
15-5, 15-3 and 15-10.
The midget boys basket-
ball team defeated host
Goderich 5343 on Friday
in a solid overall team
effort. Mark Laye scored
19 points to lead the
Panthers.
The juniors ran out of
steam in the fourth quar-
ter to fall to Goderich 51-
31. Kyle Farwell had 16
points for the Panthers.
The seniors could not
match up with Goderich
and fell 81-34_ Derek
Etherington continued his
hot streak with nine
points.
The seniors and juniors
both fell to host Madill
Wednesday. The seniors
lost 44-22 and the short-
handed juniors were
beaten 76-37. Darryl
Romphf led the seniors
with seven points and
Ben Forrest and Farwell
scored 13 each for the
juniors.
The midget and junior
boys hosted Seaforth yes-
terday after press. The
midget boys Huron finals
are tomorrow and the
junior and senior semi-
finals are on Friday.
