Jr. D Hawks
and Irish in
first round
Continued from page 22
Middlesex finished at 11-
27-2-3 and 27 points.
Exeter gets the playoff
nod due to less losses.
The Irish finished on the
other end of the spectrum
with a stellar 28-12-0-1
record and 57 points,
good for first place in
both the division and the
Yeck Conference.
Lucan went 17-3 in the
second half of . the season
after a pedestrian 11-9
start.
Hawks coach Scott
Bogart knows his team
has its work cut out for it.
"We're going to half to
play our best hockey of
the season to even be in
games with them," he
said of the Lucan power-
house.
Bogart said the Hawks
will obviously have to play
tight defensively versus
the Irish who can score
goals in bunches.
"We can't get into a
shooting match. with them
or we'll get buried," he
said.
Irish co -coach Bill
Bourne said his team is
•working on a couple of
"general things" at prac-
tices heading into the
playoffs but wouldn't
elaborate.
The Irish machine
snouldn't have to fine
tune much with its stellar
Tgecord.
''moi} -chink the record
speaks for itself," Bourne
said when asked how his
team matches up with
Exeter.
The Irish will want to
erase the memory of a
first round departure
from the . playoffs by
Seaforth who also fin-
ished in fourth place.
"We have a veteran
team, most of them were
there," Bourne said,
meaning the Irish will try
to learn from their mis-
takes last season.
The other Morenz
Division first round series
features second place
Mitchell (24-15-1-3, 52
points) against third place
Seaforth (15-23-2-1, 33
points).
The Hawks finished the
regular season with three
games last week. Exeter

at 6:14 and 4:55 of the
third but the Hawks put
the game on ice when

perfect host by dropping
Friday's game 4-1 to
Lucan.
Lucan scored four unan-
swered goals, three in the
second, after the teams
played a scoreless first.
Lucan's Justin Mulligan
scored a powerplay goal
