Dorothy Rollings con- ducted the business por- tion of the meeting. Several women volun- teers to provide cookies for the upcoming pancake supper on February 16. Janet Hicks gave a reading. The balance of the evening was spent work- ing on a fund-raising pro- ject. The meeting closed with the singing of "Love Lifted Me" followed by Minister Heather Scott's prayer. Refreshments were served by Donna Smith, Faye Skinner and June Essery. February 7, the fourth Sunday in Epiphany was celebrated at Centralia United Church. Minister Heather Scott and the children talked about lighthouses and how they are like a light- house for God. Scripture readings followed. There was a special offering for the Mission and Service Fund to pro- vide assistance for the victims of Hurricane Mitch in Central America. A special bulletin described the enormous devastation caused by the hurricane in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatamala and how the United Church is help- ing the people. The United Church of Canada is supplying food aid through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and is working with several partner organizations and churches to distribute the supplies. Anyone wishing to con- tribute can send a cheque made out to The United Church of Canada and clearly marked for Central America to the Division of World Outreach. Upcoming activities February 14, Bob Heywood will be the guest preacher at Centralia Untied Church. Minister Scott will spend some time in the Sunday Schools as part of her internship program. Davis i tett 'i►, ►ri SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's Church celebrated the Holy Eucharist service on February 7 at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Stanley Jay officient. The children's focus was entitled "You are the Salt of the Earth and You are the Light of the World." Rose Cunningham read scriptures and Courtney MacGillivray was server for the service. The evening prayer service will be held February 13 at 7 p.m. with the Sunday School children conducting the service. Ron and Margaret Carroll were Tuesday evening din- ner guests at a fourth year birthday celebration at the Iredales, honouring their granddaughter Michelle. Dinner guests last Sunday with Arnold and Rose Cunningham were Arnold's nephew and niece Martin and Laurie Cunningham and great-niece Lisa of Lucknorti , Rose's brother George Anson and nephew Carl of Wingham, along with son Allan Cunningham and Heather Hertzel. Callers during the week were Hazel Davis, son Dan Anson of London and his grand- daughters Samantha and Laura visiting with great - 'grandparents Arnold and Rose and son Jim and Tammy Anson and family of Zurich. Wednesday evening the Cunninghams visited with Ted and Maurleen Oliver of St. Marys. Ron and Nancy Cunningham of Wiarton along with children April, Tom, Charles and Kelsey visited with parents Bob and Alexia Tindall on the weekend, also calling on grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Davis at the Exeter Villa. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rollings also visited with Mary Davis on Sunday. Stevie MacGillivray and Hugh and Hazel Davis were dinner guests of Bob and Heather MacGillivray on Sunday evening at a London restaurant, also joined by Ralph Joyce and Darren Simpson. will host a Valentine's Day luncheon. Evez'yone is invited to share in this time of food and feltow- ship. Donations for the Healing Fund would be appreciated. The beginning of Lent will be celebrated with the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper anti worship at Centralia United Church on February 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets for adults are $5. and $2.50 for chil- dren 6 to 12. The Official Board will meet at Centralia on February 18 at 8 p.m. Euchre results At Heywoods Restaurant, Mary Latta was the winner of the hidden score during the Monday afternoon euchre games on February 2. High hand winners were Mary Rhame and Ruby Beaver. Anne Northy and Andy Thompson were the lone hand winners. Zurich Dining for Senior the ZURICH - Feb. 3, 50 people enjoyed dinner at Zurich Arena. O'Canada and the table Grace were sung and the 50/50 winner was Marjory Reichert. Marg Hayter introduced "The Otterbeins", Helen, Lloyd, Judy and Wayne, who entertained with music and songs, Ilayter thanked them for the musical pro- gram. Progressive euchre was played.
