EXETER - The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation and the Exeter Lions Club are col- laborating once again to present the 10th annual Conservation Dinner. This gala event will fea- ture an exceptional meal and the opportunity to win pr bid on fine artworks, collectibles and hundreds of special prizes. Each participant can be proud of hisor her role in supporting worthy conser- vation -related projects. Last year's proceeds, served as seed money for trail and pavilion develop- ment at Rock Glen Conservation Area and the Bannockburn Wildlife. Area as well as the Sylvan Conservation Program and stocking the Morrison Reservoir with rainbow trout. Tickets for the event, slated for, April 15, at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter cost $37.50 each and may be ordered by calling the ABCA at 519-235-2610. They are also available from the Conservation Dinner chairperson, Tom Tomes and committee members, Paul Anstett, Nancy Becker, Peter Darbishire, Andy deBoer, Jon Dtnney, Fred Dobbs, Sandra Funk, Joe Gibson, George Godbolt, Brent Gotts, Ted' Jones, Bill Linfield, Fred Lewis, Dave McClure, Amy McLellan, Lois Morgan, Judith Parker, Tom Prout, Rob Ridley, Sharon Steciuk and Larry Wein. The . committee has started collecting original art, limited edition prints and other fine works for auction and raffle at the Conservation Dinner. Individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring items or donating cash or prizes for this distin- guished event are invited to contact the ABCA office or any committee mem- ber. Traditionally, tickets to the Conservation Dinner sell out early in the new year. As an added incen- tive, ticket -holders are eli- gible for the Early Bird Draw coming up on March 3. Lucan Biddulph council- lor and arena board chair- person Perry Caskanette told township council the good news at last week's regular meeting. Though unaudited, the arena finished the year with an about $12,000 surplus. ' Caskanette said the sur- plus comes from the hard work of arena staff and a switch in insurance com- panies. Township chief adminis- trator Ron Reymer said the switch ininsurance companies and policy renewal dates is a one- time savings. The surplus will be rolled over into next year's arena budget. .
