Zurich figure skaters compete in London competition

SAINTSBURY -The Rev. Stanley Jay was officient for
the Holy Eucharist service at St. Patrick's on Sunday.
Children's focus was explaining the privilege and
opportunity it is for congregations to hold their annual
vestry meeting which was to follow the service.
Children's hymn was "Morning has broken" prior to.
going to classes. Following the Holy Eucharist and
prayers the congregation moved downstairs to hold
their annual vestry meeting over lunch.
The Rev. Stanley Jay welcomed everyone and led in
prayer.
Vestry clerk Margaret Carroll read the minutes of the
last meeting.
Rev. Jay conveyed his thanks to the congregation and
gave a short report. Treasurer and ACW reports were
accepted as read.
Thank you was read from Joan and Bob Beaune of
London on behalf of their son Kristopher for his
Christmas gift from St. Patrick's.
Heather MacGillivray, Rectors Warden gave her
thanks to Rev. Jay and the congregation for all their
support at the end of her final term. Rose Cunningham
is now St. Patrick's Rector's Warden.
Bob MacGillivray was elected as People's Warden as
Kimberley Kelley finished her term.
Lay delegate to Synod is Hazel Davis; substitute is
Rose Cunningham.

The meeting adjournedllowing a very successful
year and everyone is looking forward to the visit in
October from Bishop The Rt. Reverend Robert

Caleb MacGillivray was overnight guest with Jordo
Butler on Friday when he celebrated his 11th birthday.
Caleb and Corbin MacGillivray were Sunday after-
noon guests' at a birthday party honouring their friend
Mitch in Clandeboye.
Courtney MacGillivray attended a party Saturday
evening honouring her friend Terri -Ann Dobbie on her
birthday.

Park near Zurich. They
enjoyed various outdoor
activities.
Those who are saving
Heinz baby food labels for
the Optimist Club may
drop them off at the box
in the entrance of the
municipal office. Those
who are saving grocery
tapes for the Zurich and
Area Figure Skating Club
may drop them off in the
box at Seyler's Store.
The next card party at
the Town Hall is set for
January 25 at 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $3 at the door.

Zurich and Area Skating
club took part In the
Great Lakes Competition
in London on Saturday.
Their next competition
will be in St. Thomas
from February 5 to 7.
The Skating Carnival
will be held at the Zurich
Arena on March 28 at 2
p.m. with the theme
'Dance, Dance, Dance."

A surprise 40th birthday
party was held for Elaine
Clarke on January 16 at
her home. with friends
and relatives attending.
The evening was spent
playing cards; reminisc-
ing and opening gifts. Her
birthday was on January
11.

light of the celebration
was the Jerome Tree
which enabled everyone
to bring along something
special that reminded
them of him. E-mail and
telephone messages were
received from Australia,
Detroit, Sarnia and
British Columbia.
A former Zurich resi-
dent, Ruth Church,
passed away on January
11. She was living at the
Queensway Nursing
Home in Hensall.
Annette Stephan left for
Tokyo on the weekend, to
join husband Mark. She
had been in the area
since Christmas visiting
with parents Karl and
Mary Regier and family
members.
Joel Siebert and Melanie
Nafziger were married on
January 16 at the Cross
Hill Mennonite Church
near Kitchener. The
groom is the son of Dave
and Ruth Siebert, Zurich.
