Chiefs assistant coach
Mike Soldan said the
entire coaching staff was
impressed by Bourne who
showed he can be a leader
on the ice and that he can
put the puck in the net.
The Chiefs will likely
meet Lucknow in the next
series which could start as
early as Friday.
Lucknow should prove to
be a big test for Exeter
since the well disciplined
squad won the Silver Stick
tournament.
Injuries will also play a
factor since Chris Reaburn
sat out the Forest series
with a bum knee and
Carroll is questionable
with his thumb

LUCAN -- The Lucan Jr.
D Irish hockey team
extended their winning
streak to eight with two
crucial wins last week.
The Irish squeaked by
host Lambeth 3-2 on
Sunday. Lambeth struck
first with a powerplay
goal at 8:08 of the first.
Lucan's Dan Hardick tied
the game at 6:49 of the
first from Roy Davis and
Justin Mulligan.
Lambeth scored the only
goal of the second period,
another powerplay mark-
er, to go up 2-1.
Adam Wagner scored
an unassisted goal at 5:31
of the third to tie the
game and force overtime.
In the extra frame, Neal
Costello notched the win-
ner, unassisted, at 2:14.
Irish co -coach Bill
Bourne said Lambeth's
goaltender, Ernie
Santigapita, turned away
just about everything he
faced. The Irish thre* 42
shots at Santigapita.
"The guys really worked
hard," Bourne said. "We
had a lot of scoring
chances and I thought we
would get frustrated. But
we showed a lot of char-
acter."
At home Wednesday,
Lucan won its most
important game of the
season so far 1-0 over
Mitchell. Mitchell was just
a point back of Lucan in
their fight for the Morenz
Division's top spot.
Mulligan scored the lone
goal while on the power-
play from Corey Smith
and Mark Phillips with 10
seconds left in the second
period. The goal was a tip
in off a shot from the
point.
Bourne said the game
was a real goaltender's
duel with Mike Boyce get-
ting the win and the
shutout with 28 saves.
Bourne admitted both
teams seemed "a little bit
tentative" in the first peri-
od.
"We didn't want to get
too aggressive," he said.
The close game shows
there's a reason why
Lucan and Mitchell are so
close in the standings.
"It proves we're pretty
evenly matched but if we
play our game we'll come
out on top," Bourne said.
The two wins brings
Lucan's winning streak to
eight games while allow-
ing only 10 goals against.
The Irish have gone 16-2
in the last 18 games.
Lucan's record is 21-10-
0-1 (wins, losses, ties,
overtime losses) with 43
points, good for first place
in the Morenz Division
with a game in hand over
second place Mitchell.
Mitchell's record is 18-
13-1-3 and 40 points..
The Irish next host
Seaforth tonight at 8:15
p.m. and travel to Parkhill
on Saturday.

end with a 4-3 loss at Monkton Friday (goals by Jeff Ansems, Darryl McCann and
Aaron Brooks) and a 10-7 lost at Lucknow Saturday (goals by Sean McCann,
Downie and Todd McCann with two each and Vowles). Hensall was short players
