Interim Pastor of the Mennonite Church, Reynold Kipfer, conducted the Installation of the new executive for 1999. A musical program followed, presented by four singing sisters. Past present Martha Risi handed her job and pm to president •Gladys Gingerich. There were 27 members attending. Carmel Sweeney hand- ed out the schedules for the upcoming monthly programs. Shootin' Your Ageat65 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD BEN FISHER The next birthday party was set for January 12, hosted by the Dashwood United Church Women. The new addition to the back of the Home is pro- gressing well, and a motion was made that the Auxiliary help decorate the dining room by buying a fancy mirror for near the fireplace. The quilt is now set up at the Home and every- one is welcome to do some quilting on it. The next meeting will be held on February 2 at 7 p.m. A birthday supper was held at the home of Carmel and Jerome Sweeney on Sunday in honour of their daughter Meagan, who was 15 on January 7; for mother Marie Gelinas on January 11; and for son-in-law Paul Klopp on January 14. Open reception to follow at Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre at 8 p.m. HAYTER - BROWNING Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hayter, Grand Bend and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Browning, Ridgetown are happy to announce the marriage of Todd and Trina. The couple exchanged wed- ding vows at the Lobo First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 2, 1999 and are now residing in London, Ontario. the past three weeks at the home of daughter Deb and Jim Gavan and Alison in Bright's Grove. Rita Sheridan from Elora spent last week vis- iting with daughter Mary and John Earle and fami- ly. Belated happy birthday wishes_ go to Ardona LaPorte of Hensall who was 17 years old on January 7. Jamie and Patti Hunt and children recently spent a few days visiting with his parents Bob and Novna Hunt in Owen Sound. W.I. celebrates NewYear's DASHWOOD - Dashwood's Women's Institute met at Kaethe's Kaffee recently, opening with a poem "A Glorious New Year." Florence Martene handed out a six -folded snowflake. Following the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, the roll call was "A Thought of the Year". Secretary Brenda Sheppard and treasurer Kaethe Frieter gave reports. Dates were given for finishing quilt blocks, spring board meeting, volunteers for IPM quilt show , Slice of Huron, District Annual, Exeter fair display list, and district Picnic. Each member received a date book, compliments of Greeting Card World. The program included the motto "Definition of words in Collect with promises for 1999". Brenda Sheppard gave a reading "The Year of the Town Blue Moons". When two full moons fall in th same month, the second one is called blue -in -name - only moon, Jan. 31 and Mar. 31. This happens about once every two and a half years to three years. Each gave a cooking hint. A reading "A tale of Spring Cleaning" - listing items to buy, was given by Aldene Wolfe. A skit "Romance" acted by Dorothy Restemayer and Ruth Stire. Maud Hoffman read "The Beginning of New Millennium" officially Jan. 1, 2001. Perplexing Problems -during the social part, were solved. Lunch was served by Dorothy Restemayer and Kaethe Freiter. Birthday wishes for Ruth and Luella and happy anniversary for Brenda were sung. Penny Pinching Plans for 1999 were given out by Kaethe. DOUGHERTY JOHNSTON Bill and June 'Dougherty of Exeter are happy to announce the marriage of their son Michael to Kimberlee, daugh- ter of Helen Murray, of Unionville, Ont. and Bill Johnston of The Turks and Caicos Islands. The wedding took place in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998. The newlyweds honey- mooned in California and are now residing in Toronto. Graduate - Congrat- ulations! Jonathan Bell received his Electronic Engineering Diploma on February 23, 1998. In addition,he has just recently graduated from DeVry -Calgary Alberta with a Bachelor Sc. degree, and is now working in an 'Information Technology career in Calgary. Congratulations Jonathan from your family Gord, Lois, Stephen and Matthew Graduate - Mr. and Mrs. DuBarry of Huron Park, Ont. would like to congratulate their son Steven DuBarry on graduating from the Ontario Police College (Dec. 3/98) and C.O. Bick Police College in Toronto (Jan . 8/9 9) . Steven is employed as a police constable, Toronto Police Service - 14 Division.
