Chiefs pick up three points Ringette EXETER - The Exeter Juvenile Chiefs hockey team had a good week considering they had an almost three week layoff due to winter storms. The Chiefs rolled over host Tavistock 7-1 on Monday. Jesse Bergman led the Chiefs with two goals and one assist. He opened the scoring at 13:16 of the first period (assisted by Greg Hendricks) and the Chiefs never looked back. Bergman took a slash to the wrist and one to the leg behind the play and despite the pain continued to go to the net picking up his second goal (assisted by Hendricks) mid -way through the third period. He also assisted on Exeter's second goal scored by Brian Richardson. Paul Knight scored Exeter's third and fourth goals (the first from Ryan Carroll and Jon Carr, the second from Carroll), Carroll had the sixth goal (unassisted) just 16 seconds after Bergman's second goal in the third and Mike Wilhelm finished Exeter's scoring with 7:07 Left in the game (unassisted). The game became a chippy affair as Tavistock tried to physically punish Exeter after they fell behind. Jon Carr was thrown out of the game for a third period fight and will sit out Friday's game versus Thedford. Mike Eagleson was sidelined with a sore knee but will return Friday. The Chiefs faded in the third in thein 4-4 tie versus Elora at South Huron Rec Centre Friday. The Chiefs built a 4-1 lead but gave up three goals in the third including the tying marker with onlynine seconds left. Chris Reaburn opened the scoring for Exeter at 11:38 of the first period with assists by Carroll and Hendricks. Bergman made it 2-1 for the Chiefs with only 11 seconds gone in the second from Scott Rosenberg. The Chiefs then made it 3-1 when Carroll scored 3:48 into the third from Carr and then went up by three goals 1:28 later when Knight scored from Reaburn and goal - tender Nathan Hern. The Chiefs host Thedford Friday at 8 p.m. and visit Forest Saturday. Jan. 9 - HenssB 10 at Bayfield 3 Goals: Ryan Consitt, Sean Consitt (3) Sam Stewart (2).
