Blue Water Rest Home news
ZURICH - The Christmas
season brought many visi-
tors to Blue Water Rest
Home.
The Swinging Seniors
entertained the residents
on December 21. Phyllis
Diechert as pianist, Doug
Insley played the
Hawaiian Guitar, Claire
Masse played guitar and
Lois Hodgins as violinist.
Bob Hedley of Grand Bend
donated a tin of short
bread cookies.
The Lakevie
Conservative Mennonite
Church members sang
Christmas hymns in the
evening and socialized'
over refreshments.,
Wednesday afternoon the':"
residents enjoyed after-
noon tea in the auditori- ,
um. On December 27 the
Zurich Mennonite Church
members sang Christmas
hymns and songs in the
auditorium. Tuesday
afternoon the residents
played their rhythm
instruments with the
accompaniment of
Adjuvant Cathy Shantz on
piano.
The Maplewoods
Apartments residents
enjoyed a pork chop din-
ner at Blue Water on

Matthias Wronski,
Boniface Church; Zurich';
conducted the' Catholic
services.
New Year's Eve the resi-
dents donned their party
hats and played bingo.
Chocolate bars, cookies,
cheese and crackers were
prizes of the evening.
Condolences go to the
family and friends of the .
late Sigval (Val) Bernard
who passed away at Blue
Water on Christmas Day,
and his 88th birthday.
Val, a resident of.. the
Home the past year, for-,
merly lived in Grand Bend
with his Wife Janice.
Janice, a craft enthusiast
kept the home well sup -
„plied with homemade
plastic kleenex containers •
to fit every season and
every occasion.
Condolences to the fami-
ly and friends of the late
Catherine Irene Riehl who
passed away at Blue
Water on New Year's Eve
in her 88th year.
Catherine, a resident at
the home the past five
years, formerly resided in
Goderich. Her immediate
family dwell in Goderich,
Bayfield, Exeter and
London and the home was
chosen to provide a
halfway point. The Home
will miss Catherine and
the many wooden crafts
her son Gerald and his
wife Elda made . for the
home.
Welcome to Dorothy
Melissa Farrell, wife of
resident Ralph (Red)
Farrell. The couple have
moved to the Home from
Smithville to be near their
daughter Suzanne and
John, residents of Grand
Bend.
Welcome to new resi-
dent Martha Weigand of
Dashwood. She hopes to
be joined soon by her hus-
band Eben. 'YY

Snowmobile bylaw in force

HENSALL - Area snowmobiles are
reminded of the Village of Hensall's
bylaw 10-93 regarding the use of
motorized snow vehicles within the
village. Snowmobiles are prohibited
on sidewalks, shoulders/boulevards
and private property. Snowmobiles
should be driven on the road, using
direct routes in and out of the vil-
lage. Complete copies of the by-law
are available at the Municipal Office.
Property owners in Hensall are
asked not to shovel snow onto the
road. Snow should be piled on boule-
vards.
Cat and dog tags for 1999 are
available at the Hensall Municipal
Office. Tags must be purchased by
March 15 to avoid a late payment
charge. Fee schedule for tags is also
available from the Municipal Office.
