Provincial Police to the citizens of Exeter, South Huron and
Middlesex County.
Together "we" will be providing a level of service to you that displays our oblig-
ation to public safety in an ever-changing policing environment.
The new comprehensive 1999-2000 Business Plan incorporated into our man-
agement practices will ensure the delivery of excellent, all-inclusive, cost-effec-
tive policing services by the O.P.P. and will take effect in the new year.
The Business Plan is a contract with your community and was developed
through public consultations with your municipal councils, police services
boards and community groups. The Plan is meant as a long term partnership
with you the citizens of South Huron County. The planning cycle ends with your
evaluation and our accountability to you.
We share your vision of a safe and secure community where everyone can pur-
sue and enjoy all lawful activities. Working together for the common good of
your community will ensure that the 0.P.P. continues to provide an excellent and
accountable police service.
Communities within our detachment area have shared their concerns regard-
ing property crimes, traffic concerns, problems with youth and police visibility.
I am committed to satisfying you with the most attractive return on your .
investment, that being the safety and security of your community.
The London, Lucan and Exeter O.P.P. detachments want to;wish all citizens in
their areas a healthy, happy and safe New Year.
Amalgamation meeting set for Jan. 12

ready for the next
meeting of amalgama-
tion talks between the
Town of Exeter and
the townships of
Usborne and Stephen.
The meeting of the
organization commit-
tee, to be held Jan.12
at 7:30 p.m. in the
Exeter council cham-
bers, will feature two
representatives from
each council
Representing Exeter
on the committee will
be deputy -reeve Dave
Urlin and Coun. Robert
Druriminond, while
Usborne has appointed
Reeve Robert Morley
and deputy -reeve Ken
Oke.
Stephen Township
hadn't appointed
members to the com-
mittee as the T -A was
going to press, but
planned to do so at its
Jan. 5 council meeting.
The Jan. 12 amalga-
mation meeting is
open to the public.

Two caught
with.
stolen snow-
mobile
nowmobile
The massive snowfall
in recent days has snow-
mobile enthusiasts
rejoicing and thieves
busy.
The Huron County OPP
arrested two men on
Gibbings St. in Clinton on
Jan. 3 at about 10:30
p.m. for stealing a snow-
mobile from a George St.
residence in Lucan. The
snowmobile, a red '98
Skidoo Formula 500 val-
ued at $9,000, was
stolen on Dec. 31.
The arresting officer
received information the
stolen snowmobile would
be in Clinton sometime
the night of the arrest.
Darcy Bean, 18, of
Exeter is charged with
possession of stolen
property, failing to com-
ply with recognizance
and breach of probation.
Nicholas Stire, 19, of
Dashwood is charged
with possession of stolen
property and failing to
comply with recog-
nizance. They were
remanded into police
custody for a ball hear-
ing.
On Jan. 3, a bluish -
green 1998 Polaris Indy
Trail snowmobile was
stolen from Brinsley Rd.
in McGillivray Township,
Graham said.
OPP busy over
first winter
storm
NORTH LAMBTON -- The
North Lambton OPP were
more than busy on the
roads because of the
weekend snow storm.
North Lambton OPP offi-
cers investigated 17 inci-
dents where vehicles slid
into the ditch or people
were stranded as a result
of the heavy snowfall on
Saturday and Sunday.
Fortunately, the OPP
reports no one was seri-
ously hurt in the North
Lambton area because of
the snow -related inci-
dents.
North Lambton OPP offi-
cers were also busy check-
•
ing for drunk drivers dur-
ing the '98 Festive : RIDE
(Reduce Impaired Driving
Everywhere) program.
From Nov. 28 -Jan. 1,. the
North Lambton OPP
checked 1,901 vehicles,
issued five 12 -hour driving
suspensions, charged four
people with drinking and
driving (impaired/over 80
mgs), charged six people
with Liquor License Act
offences and charged two
people with Highway
Traffic Act offences.
The North Lambton OPP
also handed out four
administrative drivers
licence suspensions.
The North Lambton OPP
said they will continue to
conduct RIDE spot checks
at random times and loca-
tions throughout the year.
