* A corrtnuuee to recruit doctors for the South Huron
hospital has been formed by members from surround-
ing municipalities and of people who are involved in the
hospital. A stud) concluded that the South Huron area
needed to apply for official underserviced -status from
the provincial government. If granted. the service will
help rea-tit and keep doctors here.
* Residents of recently flooded homes of both water
and raw sewage are taking action. They have said that
it is the town's responsibility to pay for 11 Since this has
happened before, insurance may not cover some homes.
* Lucan and Grand Bend's generosity nets the John
Davidson tour S50.000 after he traveled through both
villages on his way across Canada.

* Ontario Liberal leader Dalton McGuinty spent
approximately 40 minutes touring Exeter. trying to raise
his profile. He tacked to local business owners and
pedestrians and to Mayor Ben Hoogenboom who talked
about downloading. taxes and amalgamation.
* The site for the 1999 international Plowing Match
will also hold the 71st Huron County plowing match.
The fams of Howard and Elaine Datars, and Earl, Linda
a,nd Michael Becker will be used for. the event.
* Huron 14PP Helen Johns will seek the Tory nomina-
tion in the new- Humin -Bruce riding in the election,
which is not e'xpe� until next spring.

* Grand Bend residents can expect a 10.5 percent
. increase in re'sio:ntia1 property taxes after the village
yowled passed its budget. Commercial taxes will jump

Elliott and Kay Clarke at
Grand Bend.

Brock and Dianne Adams,
and grandsons, Andrew,

London, Christmas Day.

mass for Christ. Some peo-
ple think Xmas is either
laziness or insolent and
disrespectful because it
takes the Christ out of
Christmas. Not so. The
(,reek letter X is the first
letter of the Greek word
Christ-Cristos. The abbre-
viation goes back to 1551
as X' temmas.
