History books go on sale today

RANTO^: The latest wol on
'Pioneers to the Present,' the Biddulph
Township history book, is that copies will
go on sale at the township office near
Lucan on Wednesday morning and after-
noon, Dec. 23, and Thursday morning,
Dec. 24. Gift certificates are also avail-
able.
Granton Food and Video opened their
new coffee shop on. Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Coffee, soup, sandwiches, subs and
muffins are available daily from 6 a.m. to
6 p.m.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Dec. 20 Lay Pastor Val Hodgins
led the service and the Advent Candle
was lit by Raymond and Penny McRobert
and their children, Dana, Arnie and Eric.
On Thursday, Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m. a
Christmas candlelight and communion
service will be held at Wesley United
Church.
At St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton
nn Sunday, Dec. 20, ltev. Glenda Meakin
led the service of lessons and carols.
During the children's focus, Britanny
O'Brien lit the Advent Candles.
The lessons were interspersed with car-
ols and read by Becky Hawkins, Emma
13lackler, John Urquhart, Kate Henry,
Brittany O'Brien, Candice O'Brien and
Mary Blackler.
Flowers at the altar were given in
memory of Mr. and Mrs. Alf Collier and
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bailey by Grace and
Clayton Ross. Flowers were also placed in
the church from the funeral of Mary
(Doupe) Gibson.
The Christmas Eve -service at St. Paul's
is scheduled for 9 p.m.
Get well wishes to Gwen Waghorn of
•Kirkton who returned home from St.
Marys Memorial liospital last
Wednesday.
May you keep Christmas, holding it
close to your heart, for its meaning never
ends, and its spirit is the warmth and joy
of remembering friends.
Blue Water residents take tour
of colourful Christmas lights
ZURICH - The residents of Blue Water
Rest Home were entertained by mem-
bers of St. Boniface and St. Joseph
Catholic Church the evening of
December 14 for their monthly birthday
party. The December birthday, cele-
brants are Rose Broderick. Dorothy
13apty, Clara'Himilton and Sigval (Val)
Bernard .who received a small -birthday
gift from the Auxiliary.
The group provided a program with a
Christmas theme. 'Perri and Jill
Brandon, Cheryl and Elise Durand.
Jenna DeGroot, l annis Denomme,
Stephanie Rau, Valerie Hosang and
Harriet VanderBurgt Rau as guitarist.
Elise as piano solo, and a poem was
read by Pam. The group sang many
Christmas favourites. Fancy breads,
cheese, cookies and Christmas cake
were served by Auxiliary members and
the church group -to the residents and
their gt. .Is.
Tuesuay afternoon residents Ethel
Moore, Vera Hativrer, Carman Lovie,
Dorothy Dietrich, Stewart 'Thiel,
Margaret Bess, harry Maas, Philippa
Steckle and Ralph Farrell boarded the
wheelchair bus for a trip into the coun-.
try. Volunteer driver Don Stevens drove
his passengers to Grand Bend, Mount
Carmel, Crediton and Dashwood to look
at all the Christmas decorations and the
green countryside.
In the evening the residents were
entertained by the Christian Reformed
Church members from the Exeter area.
Pianist Steve Poortinga led the singing of
Christmas hymns. Anna Zandbergan
read a poem entitled "Each Christmas
God Renews His Promise." Julie Knip
and Irene Zward "Carol, Sweetly Carol".
Thursday morning students from
Zurich Public School sang Christmas
carols for the residents. Many residents -
Were able to visit with their grandchil-
dren and great-grandchildren for a few
precious moment...
Rev. Robert Graham, a t-e,,,.ed minis-
ter for the Church of the Nazarene con-
ducted Thursday afternoon Chapel
Services. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St.
Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated
Mass.
Thursday evening the residents' toured
Bayfield and Zurich to look•at all the
Christmas lights, with the assistance of
volunteer. driver Glen Thiol and
Adjuvant Cathy Shantz. The sprinkle of
snow on the landscape helped put
everyone in a Christmas mood and
made the lights sparkle.. l3eatrice Rader.

Thiel arid Kilda Rader saw the new ici-
cle lights and discovered where various
staff members lived, and how each
home's decoration is that much different
from the next.
Art Coker played the organ in the -
chapel on Friday afternoon and wished
everyone the gest of the season.
Saturday afternoon .the townliners
entertained at the Home. Sunday morn-
ing Itoy Gingerich, Beatrice Rader,
.Clarence Gascho, Neil Mustard and
Margaret Hess attended `services at
Zurich Mennonite Church.
Best wishes go to Harold (Tiny) Thiel
who is a patient at South Huron
1lospital, Exeter.
Condolences. to the family and friends
.of the late Pearl Hooper, who passed
away at Blue Water on December 20 in
her 92nd year. She was a resident at the
home for over nine years. She resided in
Exeter.and Grand Bend prior to residen-
cy at the Home.
