Be aware of bank scam

warning citizens of a bank scam that
defrauded an elderly woman on Der.

• A •synopsis of the scant: A male pre-
tending. to be a bank official in need.of
help to trap dishonest bank employees
contacts the victim at their residence.
Once the bogus bank omeial gains the
co-operation of the victim, the victim is
instructed to go to their bank and with-
draw a predetermined sum of cash
from their account and then go to a
nearby parking lot to turn the money
over' to a person acting as a police offi-
cer. The victim is then told to drive
straight home and not tell anyone of the
incident and•wait for further contact. '
The OF'P• is asking anyone that
receives a similar cull to report it
immediately to your local police agency.
The OM urges people not to submit to
the request without nest contacting
police and known bank otiicials.

thank you."
Elvin is the last recipient
of the Lucan Citizenship
Award due to amalgama-
tion with Iliddulph
Township that takes effect
Jan. 1, 1999. The commit-
tee u, expecUpd to continue
its effort,, though, and
award • the honour to
Lucan liiddulph residents
in the future.
