My.favourite part about
Christmas. would be _when
my family comes horse.
You see, my brothers, all
live on their own and go to
school and when summer
comes around they go'off
and find jobs and don't
come home. So the year
can become lonesome with only my mom, my dad
and me at home. When Christmas roils around my •.
•brothers start to call more often to make plans and .
that means I get to see them. Since they all work they
only stay for two or three `days which is never
enough. but I'm happy to see. them. When they come
home I get antzy for Christmas day so I can .deliver
my presents 1 bought`'and made for them.
1' also love to get my family gifts. I usually buy their
' gifts at the Seaforth Arts and Crafts Show.at the high
school. If I didn't buy it there I make it for ther'n. Each
year -there comes a new idea, once I _made my dad a
golf towel and my mom a book This year I'm not-
quite sure of what I'm making but 1 wouldn't tell you
because it wouldn't be a surprise,for them.

EXETER -- All Exeter
Mayor' Ben •Hoogenboom
wants for Christmas is
continued strides in the
right .
The second term
mayor did get more spe-
cific when the Times -
Advocate asked him for
his town wish list.
Here's Hoogenboom's
list in descending order:
!Good health and pros-
perity for everyone.
•"No tax increases,
•A good working rela-
tionship with neighbour- . .
ing municipalities and
good results with' aural
gamation talks.
"We would like to be in
the driver's seat with
choosing partners," he
saki.
While he acknuwiedges
municipal mergers have
their critics in the Exeter
area, some Perth County
officials he has spoken to
said they didn't like the
idea but realize now
there are savings.
•"The bottom line is.
whether we like it or not,
it's going to happen,"
Hoogenboom said.
The province wants to
deal with less municipal-
ities, boards of education
and utilities and contin-
ues to push toward that

merger talk partners.

townships. provide a dif-
ferent
ifferent and possibly bet-
ter situation for success
than prior ones that

would never relinquish
their tax base jewel. He
said eliminating those
municipal boundaries
around Exeter will get -
rid of many nagging
problems such as the
controversy -over %%hick
municipality was respon-
sible for Walper St.
Looking back on the
past year, Hoogenboom
credited his entire coun-
cil and staff for the
strides made.
"There's more growth
here than in other areas
in Huron County," he
said. "We must be doing
something right here."
The accomplishment
he's most proud of is
"the fact we're back on
track with amalgama-
tion." He quickly added -
he's proud of spending
tax dollars on eliminat-
ing the sewer back-up
problems on Pryde Blvd.
at the time council did.
The third accomplish-
ment lloogen,boom
named was the ongoing
expansion of the sewage
lagoons, something he
said paves the way for
agenda, he said. growth.
