Kay Mock. Anne Brock. and Evelyn McAllister joined the Legion. as well as Gary Maxwell, Al Brokenshire, Wayne Reid, Bill Carlisle. Ross McDonald and Bertha Taylor • On December 19. the Legion will be hold- ing a "Wings Night" at the branch. begin- ning at 5 p.m. with wings 25 cents each.. Bonus hour runs from 7-8 p.m.; when you buy three wings you get three more wings at no extra charge. Thursday night "Solo" begins at the Legion on January 7, continuing every Thursday night for the next 11 weeks. United Chum Rev. Nicholas Vandermay conducted the communion service at Hensall Carmel Presbyterian Church. Serving were Bob. 4 Bell. Al Iloggarth, Bob Taylor and John s Baker. Marg Varley and Harry Smith assist- ed with the candle lighting. Christmas Eve services will be held at 7 p.m. At Hensall United Church on Sunday, Rev. a Pam Tolmay was the minister and Chuc Mallette the organist. Steve and Cecili k Corbett conducted the litany light- ing of the candle. "Marys and" the sung by Rev. '1 olmay. The LiturgicaSonl) Dance was as performed by Thande Tolmay. Rev. Jock Tolmaywrote the words for a hymn. "Prepare The Way". Christmas Eve service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The offering will go to Central America. Make cheque payable to "Ilensall United Church". The UNICEF collection amounted to $83. Sympathy of the community is extended to Pirie MItchell and family on the death of Mrs. Mitchell, and to Ann Annen and family on the death of her niece Mary Joe and to the Mann family on the passing of Doug's moher. Town of Hensall Residents of Hensall are advised that Christmas trees will be collected on January . Trees must be free of all decorations, tin - el and plastic (or tree wrap) and should be to the curb by 7 a.m. to insure collection. Dog and cat owners in the Village of ensall are advised that 1999 tags are vailable at the Municipal office. Ellison staff raised the funds by auctioning goods and services at the company's Christmas party Avon Maitland principals' council approves C�Yl� constitutions�lA * four n . CLINTON - A new play- er on the Avon Maitland education, scene recently completed the final step to creating itself. The Avon Maitland Principals' Council (AMPC) elected its first official executive and president on November 30. The group had formally adopted .their constitution on November 19 and elected a nine -member executive the same evening. On November 30, the mem- bers of the executive met to elect the officers of the organization. The AMPC represents almost all of the school principals and vice-prin cipals in the Avon Maitland District Schoo Board. There are approximate- ly 90 school administra- tors in these roles. Bill Gerth, principal of Central Huron Seconda School in Clinton wa selected as the inaugura president. Ron Aitken, principa of Arthur Meighen Publi School was selected a vice-president and Mik Ash; a vice-principal a Bluewater Secondary School was confirmed as secretary treasurer. Acting as members -at - large are Herb Klassen, vice-principal at. Mitchell District Secondary School, Maggie Crane, principal at Turnberry Central Public School, Bart Brown, principal at. Stratford Northwestern Secondary School, Doug Pratley, vice-principal:at I Stratford Northwestern Secondary School, Laura Hodgins, principal: at Milverton Public School,. and Lorne Rideout, 'prin- cipal at Seaforth Public rlects executive board ry school. s The executive leads an I- independent organization that will establish various I professional learning c opportunities, will act in s concert with the Avon e Maitland School Board to t provide a high quality education system for the - students in that District and will advise . its mem- bers on the negotiation of contracts for terms and. conditions of work. The Avon Maitland Principals' Council is part - of the Ontario Principals' n Council which now has s 5.000 members who are s principals and vice-prin- h cipals in the public school t systems of Ontario. Gerth describes UPC as h "an independent proles- o principals and vice-prin cipals." The newly elected provincial president OPC, Rob Whetter, adds that "OPC's members are the front-line leadership in Ontario's schools and the - honest brokers of change they must have -the courage and judgement to sort out which changes are in the best interests of students and identify those -which are not."
