Kirkton Christmas concert

GRANTON - Granton residents attended the 'Pioneers
to the present' history book meeting at the Biddulph
township office in Lucan on Monday evening. Dec. 7.
Noticeswill be sent out if the book is ready before
Christmas.
The Granton UCW community gathering and supper at
the church was a big success on Tuesday evening. Dec.
8. During the program a play was presented entitled
'Christmas for: Everyone' led by Jill Westmans.
Donations were also.rereived for the London Battered
Women's Advocacy Centre.
A meeting followed. chaired by president. Audrey
Westman when the year end business was wound up
and charitable donations were made.
The Granton Firefighters. held their 23rd annual
hayride on Sundae afternoon. Dec. 13 when donations
were accepted for' the food drive. Santa wa-s,at the• fire -
hall with refreshments for the children. •
Granton women attended• the Clandebo).'e Women's
Institute 'family Christmas supper and euchre at the
Pinewood Restaurant in Ailsa Craig on Wednesday
--evening Dec. 9 when donations were received for the
food bank. President Barbara Carter led a short meeting
before the supper when 'donations were made to the
Women's Community House and„ the VON and also the
shutins were remembered. Prizes for -high scores were
awarded to Gladys Cunningham .and Allan }sill. for lone
hands to Lena and Norm Hardy and for }ow scores to

A luncheon and euchre was hosted by Becky Kindree
• and Cathie Westman on Friday. Dec. 11 at the Lion's.
Hall in the park pavilion. Jean Noon had the high score
lour. cards and Jim Bakker and Elsie Dann had the most
Ione hands. Everyone present received Christmas• bags
and goodies.

At St. Paul's Anglican Church. Kirkton on Sunday: Dec.
• 13. Rev. Glenda Meakin led the service of morning
prayer. The lessons were read by Bill Shaeler 'and the
minister. and the advent candles Here.lit by Garth.

Following the service the Sunday' Schopl children pre-
sented the story of'the Nativity led bio i arruny Hawkins
assisted by'Joanne Wackier'.

Santa paid a visit and gave out Christmas treats.
St. Paul's ACW enjoyed a lunchepn at Westover Inn.
St. Marys on ,Monday. Dec. 7 after which president
Rosemary Schaefer reviewed the happenings of the.
year. Ethel Copeland and Wilma Dallis were presented
with •certificates of meritand roses lourtheir hianj',years

Community Safety Net program co-ordinator Ro-
sette Power accepts a cheque from Exeter Lions
Club past -president Paul Anstette to sponsor drug
awareness books for 100 local Gr! 6 students. The
books will be taken home by the students in late
Jan. or early Feb. and include information' and ac-
tivities for parents to use with their children. The -
program is part of Gateway Safety Net Publica-
tions. O.P:P. officers will visit the schools to
present drug awareness programs.
