Sunday, Nov. 29',..First Sunday of Advent at Elimville. An•enjoyable program was enjoyed on Saturday evening at S.11.I1.C. Exeter. when Judy Savoy put on "God, Songs and Other Stull"'. THAMES ROAD - The Church in Society Committee were in charge of the Remembrance Service meeting. The meeting tables were covered with a. black cloth and a red cloth, a large Canadian flag, Bible. Cross, candles, a wreath with poppies on it, two army hel- mets, one officers cap', medals, duffle • bag etc, which made a very meaningful setting for the meeting. ' Jean Hodgert introduced the guest speaker Karen Willis who is with Canada; China Adoption Association. She and her husband Ed Willis adopted a girl, Nicole from China. Willis told of the many trials that they had to go through` to get their little girl. She was thanked by Helen Weston and given a gift. . . Bev Delbridge lit the three white can- dles. rielen Weston read "In Flanders Fields". Jean Ilodgert accompanied on the piano for the singing of "Let There Be Peace on.Earth". Judith Parker read the Scripture. Dorothy Duncan read a poem "Every. November". Joan Skinner read a poem. Bev Delbridge and Dorothy Duncan received the offering,. with offertory" prayer by Joan Skinner. • Dorothy Duncan gave a reading. —Remembrance Day". Judith Parker gave a reading "The Voice of an Angel." Sharon Lynn, .president opened the business part, of the meeting with a . poem "'They Did 'Their Duty". and every - .one repeated the UCW Purpose. The roll, call was answered by the ladies bringing an article for the Christmas Bureau. Minutes were read. Cards of thanks were read. and correspondence was' dealt with. Marilyn Pyne gave the trea- surer's report. The different committee women gave their reports. • Dorothy Duncan gave the Nominations .report. Jean 1lodgert gave 'a report of - the meeting she attended Monday. She -mentioned about the church service and 'choir. for the Plowing Match,..September 19, 1999. • • . "I'he meeting closed with the UCW Prayer. A lunch was partaken of, which brought a meaningful meeting to a close. Church service The regular church service was held on Sunday at Elimville shun h with Rev. Marilyn Carter in charge. The Introit was. sung and Rev. Carter gave greetings, welcome and the. announcements and led in the Call to Worship: The minister led in the Prayer of' Approach and the Lord's Prayer. Everyone read the Prayer of Confession from the Service Book. Ruth Skinner lit the Christ Candle. Itev. Carter told the story "Encourage one Another, Cod Is There' The choir .sang "I'11 CO Where- Ile Wants Me to Go" accompanied by the pianist Marilyn Vandenbussche. The responsive reading was taken from the Service Book. Harry Jeffrey read Scripture. The title of Rev Carter's sernien was "Stand Firm." • Ola Balti'n and 11-elen \tc•Kadey received the ofl'ering'as well as being the greeters: Robert 13ray wheeled a cart laden with shoe boxes for children in • • Centra1.Anl'Prica etc. • Everyone read the Commissioning and the Benediction.
