Autumn glory in Pinery
GRAND BENZ) - On October 17, The Friends of •
the Pinery Park and Provincial Park invite you to.
revel in the beauty of the season at the annual tall
Colour Event.
Begin the day with a leisurely drive through the
park. A brochure entitled, Pinery's Fall Colour
Driving Tour will bo available at the park gate and
will guide you to selected sites of interest.
Join Friends in the beautiful Visitor Centre from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to see art from Ontario's west
coast. Nine exceptional artists from the River Road
Gallery will be featuring paintings rendered in oils,
watercolours, acrylics or pastels. The artists
include: Denise Aldrich, Klaas Verboom, Lynda
Crossman, Barry Richman, Teresa Marie, David
Bannsiter, Josy tiilkes Britton and Vic Jansky.
From 1 - 4 p.m., you can watch artisans make
birds and animals out of vegetables; glass and
wood. Dawn Crabe will be leading a mini workshop•
on vegetable sculpture and garnishing. She has
made garnishes. for many special functions and
believes every meal should be a feast for the eyes
as well as the palate. Learn how to make birds,
animals and a variety of flowers out of vegetables.
Bring your favourite paring knife to this workshop
so you can make a swan o,• rose!
Friends of Pinery Park are pleased that Earl and
Juanita Smart will be returning to demonstrate the
.art of stained glass. Come and see stunning lamps.
and window panels featuring birds, butterflies and
flowers. Visitors will even have a chance to cut
:some glass! World champion wildfowl carver.
Martin Ward, will demonstrate his craft in the
Visitor Centre again. this year. Visitors will be able
to learn some techniquesthemselves by working
on miniature feathers made out of balsa wood.
For members of The Friends of Pinery Park, the
d ty will also include dune grass painting, a fish fry
and a discount at the Savanna Shores nature store,
and free -park entry for the day. The daily vehicle
permit for non-members is $8, seniors $6., and $4.
for those who are disabled.
The Friends of Pinery Park is a charity that raises
funds for park interpretive, educational, scientific
and historic projects and- programs. Members are
motivated.to join because of their love and concern
for Pinery's beautiful, natural habitat. Benefits
include newsletters, special events, voting privi-

Seniors take bus trip
EXETER - The October
meeting of Exeter Seniors
opened with a potluck
supper. The theme cen-
tered around Hallowe'en
and Thanksgiving..
President Lila Ellis read a
poem and birthday greet-
ings were sung to .several
members. Mary Neil gave
the treasurer's report.
Villa Bingo players for
October are Eldon and
Alva- Heywood, Mary
Ford, Shirley and Pearl
Kirk. ' Cards of sympathy
were sent to Jean Noels
and Olga Davis and a get
well card was sent to
Doris Denham.
Two bus loads of senior's
went on a trip to Windsor
recently. A trip to Orillia
is planned on November
4.

prizes were Audrey Scott,
Gerald McFalls and Pearl
Kirk. Song books were
.given to Exeter Seniors.
