During the summit students were required to examine . Canada's water re- sources, agricultural her- itage and decide if, based on its treatment of the environment, Canada should receive an en- . vironmental award. Ac- cording to history teach- er Mike Soldan, the students denied Canada the award, citing its poor environmental track • record. Soldan said the decision was timely be- cause it happened on the same day a story was published in the London Free Press stating On- tario has the third worst air-' quality in North • America behind Loui- siana and Texas. Soldan said the students' efforts were "super" and he said the' exercise was "quite worthwhile," adding that the intent was to raise student awareness about the environment. Regier and Hefle played the role of the media during the environmental summit, interviewing the major players such a's the gov- ernment, major- business and agriculturists. While both say they learned a lot 'by representing the media, they said it was !hard to think of ques- tions to ask. . Drop 'a Box and a child Please support Halloween.
