' ' Doris Elford read a poem and scriptures, and Marjorie Johns gave arcading. , • • Virginia Warwick .gave ,shori readings about "Helping Children Around the World." A humorous poem "The Twelve Days` of Harvest" was given py Anne 'Bray. Alma Ballantyc closed the worship scrvicc with prayer. Regal fall and wi ntt:r catalogues were handed out. The group then went to the ice, Culture business in Hensall for a tour. Church service Rev. Marilyn Carter was, in charge of the covenanting church service -on Sunday morning at Thames Road. . Kathy Bray, Superintendent of the Sunday' School, called the teachers and leaders of the mid- week groups torvKard for the Renewing of the Covenant in the Sunday' School. Rev. Carter told the Youth's Story entitled "Making a Promise." The choir sang an anthem accompanied by organist Marilyn • Vandenbussche. Tammy Rohde and Kathy Rohde lit four gold candles on the commu- nion table, and Dan Rohde stood • beside his grandpa Bill Rohde and Karen Geiger .stood beside her grandma Rhoda Rohde at the front of the church as Bill and Rhoda Rohde renewed their wedding vows of 50 years and exchanged rings. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Marilyn Caner. Rev. Carter read scripture and gave a meditation on "Covenanting and Renewal of Our Covenant to Serve God and One Another." • Erin and Megan Parker received the offering. The flowers in the church on Sunday were'placed in memory of the late Helen Hodgert by her fami• - ly and neighbors. Thcre was also a beautiful flower arrangement for Bill and' Rhoda's anniversary cele- bration. Upcoming events On September 20 the church ser- vice will be held at Elimville; on • Rohdon November I. The women of the church provided a luncheon and fellowship at the church aftcr_the 'funeral. Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives. Congratulations to Howard and Marion Johns who celebrated their 58th wedding ,anniversary on September 13, and to Glen and June Stewart who were married 45 years on September 12. Ross and Kay Hodgert and Bill and Rhoda Rohde went to 12itchies in London for supper and then to a show on Thursday evening to cele- brate their 44th and 50th wedding anniversaries, ZURICH - Tenants of Maple- woods- Apartments enjoyed their noon meal at Blue Water Rest Home on August 31 in the auditori- um. • The Auxiliary entertained the res: idents on September 1 -with music provided 'by Grace Martin on pia- no, Doreen and Earl Oesch singing ducts, Ellen and Robert Graham on violin and Ann Flaxbard reatj ing "Grandma's Soap Making." F.r Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich cele- brated Mass. in the evening St. Peter's Luther- an Church hosted the September birthday party for residents Jack McClinchey, Margaret Mousseau, Dorothy Dietrich • and Margaret Hess. .:September 10 was a back to school party for the residents. The. residents also enjoyed reminiscing about their recollection of a day in school when they. were young. September II residents had a full day with a trip to the Huron Pio-. neer Threshers Reunion held in Blyth. Volunteer bus driver Jim Purvis. Auxiliary volunteer Mary Ellen Gingerich and Adjuvaat Ca- thy Shantz helped the residents and served a picnic lunch. . September 12 Max Ducharme and the Town Liners, consisting of Doug Insley, Andrew Rau.
