$136,466 donated to county library board
Library board receives grant. Helen Johns was on hand -at the Exeter library on Sept. 11 to
donate a cheque for $137,466 to the Huron County'Libraty Board from the Ministry of Cit-
izenship, Culture -and Recreation. Pictured from left are county librarian Beth Ross, mem;

grant is part of a total of $18.74 -million the Ontario_' government is donating to public 11
braries in 1998.
Rally Sunday at Centralia Church

- CENTRALIA - Centralia United Church held a special Rally Sunday to
welcome everyone back to Sunday School after the -.summer. The church
was decorated with building tools and materials to accompany the theme.

Minister Heather -Scott save several announceincnts..One of the most
important is the uprooting development of a pastoral charge -mission state-
ment and a•pastoral charge. profile. At the recent Session meeting.. Earl
French volunteered to contact the-Confere.•ni;.e office and arrange fora
Conference Minister to assist with this process. beginning November 12 at
the- Session erecting. The entire pastoral charge wilt he involved in. this
project. For more infocntation, Contact one of the Session members. • •
The teachers and children of the Sunday School led the. worship,with-
readings and scripture. •Karen Windsor. shared a stitry'about God's kids
with the children.' Music included the song "God is here" by the children
and favourites such as "Part of.the Family"
During worship, Minister Scott led the renewal of the covenant 1pr thc
church school community including teachers, children and parents, and the - -
congrcgation. Karen Windsor will be the superintendent this year..
Teachers include Donna Smith, Heather. Wells, Becky Harrell, Faye,
- Skinner -and -Brent Caslick.
The teachers prepared lunch following worship. There were also many
-books fair children and adults about the Christian faitti.available for •
review. . - .

September 13 was a special day for Anne and Will Huxtable as they ; '•
_celebrated 65 years -of marriage. Ray and Marina•Jaques also celebrated
their 4001 wedding anniversary on September 13. . -
Upcoming
On September 20 there will be a nursery:available at Centralia United
Church for young children and. babies. There will be supervision at all
times. Following worship, a congregational meeting,will be held to discuss
.the minister's contract. All ciingregation members' are asked to attend if'
possible.

:Zion West will hold Rally Sunday on September 20. On September 27.
Zion West will celebrate their church anniversary with guest spetiker Beth- ' '
Ann Hern. A combined worship set vice will he held at 11 a.m. at Zion.
Zion West Sunday School invites all parents and children to a Family
• night on September 18. There will be a potluck supperat.6:30 p.m.,
:Centralia United Church will hold a Family Night (yr parents and chit-
. dren On October 2. A potluck supper will he held at 6 p.m.
• Everyone is invited ti, participate in the church choirs: Centralia choir .
practices Thursday evenings at 7 p.m.; Zion West choir gathers on
Tuesday nights at 7:45 p.rn. '

be held at Thames Road at 7:30 p.m. on September 27, October 4, October,

Rally on September 28 at the- church. Zion West women will hold their

'ihe teachers at Centralia, Sunday School have volunteered to cater a'
brunch for Exeter Fair on September 27 from I I a.m. to I. p.m. at thc Rec
Centre in Exeter. Volunteers to assist would be greatly appreciated. Also •
needed arc blenders. four -slice toasters, and rectangular crock pots. 11 any-
one can help with their tirnc and energy or a. monetary •donation. please

Bernice Squires and Ruby Beaver were the High Hand winncrs at the
euchre games in Crediton 'recently. Lone Hand winners were Helen -
MacDonald and Jim Davis. Irene Meander and George Adams had the
