with Ernie Miatello
A new. way of quickly assessing the risk of
heart disease is to take your blood pressure
and subtract the lower number from the higher •
number. The. answer is your pulse pressure
and is a measure of how "stiff" your arteries are. A pulse pressure
of 60 or'more could mean problem's..
Hypothyroidism results when your thyroid gland is underactive.
Too little thyroid hormone causes fatigue, weight again and intoler-.
ance to cold. Treatment -is easy by simply replacing the thyroid
hormones your body is missing. Works well!
Nicotine is a very addictive.substance. Did you know that it gets to
the brain quicker through inhaling the smoke than via intravenous
injection. (only 8 seconds!)
There is evidence that marijuana ,may be useful for the nausea
associated with chemotherapy: It can- also act as an appetite stim-
ulant in patients with AIDS. However these effects are no better
with smoked marijuana than with the -oral capsules containing the
active ingredient, THC. - -
