Residents visit Grand Bend Zoo
Centralia Car Show

the Centralia Huron Park Lions- Car Show on Aug. 23. Ron Harvey, chairperson of the
event, said approximately 100 cars were on display during the • day, during which money
was raised for the community. Harvey said cars travelled to the 5th. annual event in Cen-
tralia from as far as Ridgetown, Windsor and Sarnia.

to feel doors for heat. A feature of
-the tour was when artificial smoke
was pumped into the mock living
room and the children were taught
how to evacuate the house with the
help of volunteer firefighter Harold
Vanderhyden.
Andy Sharp, deputy chief of the
Granton Fire Department, said an,-

n-other purpose of the simulation is
to get children accustorned to what
- firefighters look like in their .uni-
forms; he said there have been re-
ports of some children hiding from
firefighters because they thought
they were "fire monsters." -
"I think it's a great thing," Sharp

In euchre games at Heywood's
Restaurant recently. High hand
winners were Kay Lankin and
Lorna Neilson. George Adams and
Helen MacDonald were the lone
hand winners. Winner of the hidden
score was Howard Dolan.
