Centralia Car Show
A real antique. Harold Cudmore of Hensall stands with his 1916 Saxon Delivery truck at
the Centralia Huron Park Lions Car Show on Aug. 23. Ron Harvey, chairperson of the
event, said approximately 100 cars were on display during the day, during which money .
was raised for the community. Harvey said cars travelled :to the 5th annual event in. Cen-
tralia from as far as Ridgetownf Windsor and Sarnia.

GRANTON — Safety was the
name of the day in Granton last
- Sunday during the Bidifulph-
Blanshard Volunteer Firefighters
Annual Breakfast.
Hundreds came out the.-thcfire
`halt in/the morning to take part in
-an open house and learn about fire
safety.
For. the kids, the highlight was a
tour through the fire awareness
house,- which is equipped to teach
children how to escape a burning
• building.
During the tour through .the
house, volunteer firefighter Wayne
Hudson taught the children kitchen
safety. how.to call for 91 i and how
• to fcel,doors for heat. A feature of
. the tour was when artificial smoke
• was pumped into the mock living
room and the children were taught
how to evacuate the house with the
help of volunteer firefighter,Harold
Vanderhyden. -

other purpose of the simulation is
to get children accustomed to what
firefighters look like in their uni-
forms; he said there have been re-
ports of.some children hiding' from
firefighters because they thought
they were "fire monsters."

dle name. Mavis Dalton had the
most coins in her purse. Carl

to he present. Kaitlyn Wright
had the most accurate weight for
the watermelon.
