The Scouts arc saving aluminum cans, bottles; and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children. The outreach committee has enlisted 25 visitors to make calls on people who are not afflicted with any church. The Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10. All ladies are invited -to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B.S. is done: • - . Evening Massage - 6 PM The pastor would appreciate if . the ladies of the congregation would send .him their electric gir- dles for pancake breakfast next Sunday morning. The audience is asked to remain seated until the end of the reces- sion. Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door. Ushers will eat latecomers. The circa 1830 cabin will become Lu - can's newest tourist attraction and Heritage president Mike Anderson said they hope to fast track -the work on the project to have it completed by Lucan Heritage Days set for Aug. 15- 16. Har ison broadsided Kuicack while he was trying to pa s in an attempt to turn left. - . Kuicack was taken by ambulant e to South Huron Hospital where' he was treated for t broken leg. Harrison is charged with unsafe turning under the Highway Traffic Act, Exeter OPP: aid. • Man seriously hurt in crash HENSALL - An RR3 Ilderton nian is recovering from serious injuries in London's'iictoria Hospital after an accident on Hwy. 4 in Hersall on Saturday at about 6:45 p.m. Exeter OPP said Jason Hoekstr<-Battar was riding his '83 Honda motorcycle southbo.rnd. on Hwy. 4 in excess of the speed limit when he rear-ended a '98 Chcv Lumina driven by Scott Mel or of Vanastra. • Hoekstra -Batter was first taken o South Huron Hospital and later transferred to.Viztoria Hospital's: South Si campus in London. Library windows vandalized EXETER - Vandals used marbles to vandalize two double windows at the rear of Exeter Library last week, Exeter OPP said. The damage was discovered on Friday. Exeter OPP said the marbles left holes in the windows. Anti -flower thugs in Exeter EXETER - Several large flower pots along Exeter's Main St. were overturned and damaged by vandals at about 2:10 a.m. on Saturday. Exeter OPP said. More fake bills surface GRAND BEND - The North Lambton OPP are warning business owners about counterfeit money being passed in Grand Bend and at bank machines. The latest round of fake bills are S20s, $50s and $100s bEaring serial number ESV6143I60, FHH4358542, EST8836279 or SAZ0522363. The OPP said the bills are of good quality. Those checking money should look for whether the planchettes can be scrapped off. Another test is to put a black light on the bill. If it's fake, the paper will show up as white; if the bill's genuine, the paper will be slightly shaded. if you come across a fake bill or have any information on these crimes, call your nearest OPP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Lawn tractors stolen ZURICH - Four lawn tractors together valued at S6,400 were stolen from C.G. Farm Supply overnight July 6. Don't swim there EXETER - Some Exeter area youths found out why -you should follow the rule of don't go where you're not supposed to. The youths were seen swimming in Exeter public pool iii the wee hours of luly 11. They -were found by the OPP and charged with trespassing. The OPP reminds people that swimming at the pool - -after hours is not only a crime, trespassing, it is • dangerous. There's an arsonist out there STEPHEN TWP. - There could be an arsonist amongst us. • Stephen Twp. firefighters battled a blaze at an . abandoned house near the Centralia -Huron Park Airport. - Fire protection officials and the Exeter OPP are still investigating the fire believed to have been deliberately set, Who was that driver? HENSALL - The Exeter OPP hope to find the driver of a car that was driving erratically on Main St. in Hensall at about 5 p.m. on July 11. The car is described as a two-tone Camaro. The OPP said though fortunately no one was.hurt, they still would like to identify the vehiclo.and driver. Bikes stolen and found SOUTH HURON- Several bikes have either been stolen or found recently in the South Huron area. Three bicycles were found and reported to the OPP from July 5-13, one in Huron Park and two in Exeter. The bikes can be viewed and claimed at the Exeter OPP detachment. During the same week, a boys blue CCM mountain bike was stolen from the Exeter ball diamonds. Exeter OPP said that noting the serial numbers of your bicycles and other property greatly assists in the recovery of stolen property and. identifying the owner. -The OPP. also reminds bike owners to lock bicycles in a secure place since most stolen'bikes werenot secured. Anyone with information on any of the above occurrences are asked to call the Exeter OPP at 235- 1300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). It's pot find time SOUTH HURON - If it's summer time, it's pot finding time in farmers' -fields. Exeter OPP said they have been contacted about marijuana plants growing in fields beside legitimate crops. The OPP said farmers arc inmost. unaware of the pot growers' activities which is done without the fanners' consent. Marijuana is often grown in thc middle of fields and cannot be seen from the ground. The OPP said the pot is easily distinguished from other crops from the sky. To foil the OPP's helicopters. pot growers have taken to woodlots to conceal their crops from the air. The OPP ask those who spot some pot to make note of the location via the Global Positioning System or its grid reference from a topographical map, street address or lot and concession number and call them. The OPP also advises those who see any signs of unusual pedestrian or off-road vehicle traffic or anything suspicious near fields or woodlots to contact your nearest OPP detachment or Crimc Stoppers. Man charged with trafficking HURON PARK - Peter J. Overall of Huron Park is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking by Exeter OPP after a warrant was executed at a Huron Park residence. The Exeter OPP executed the warrant on June 22.
