Bob the Teapot: a -shoot 'em up western comedy By Katherine Harding T -A Reporter LUCAN'- it's crass. It's quirky and witty. it's a shoot 'em up West-, ern. It's 'Bob the Teapot, Ausable Theatre's second theatrical offefing in their premiere1season as a theatre company. Written by Londoner Jason Rip , (who also performs in •the pro- duction)„ Bob the Teapot is a com- edy set in the tail end of the old west. The play begins with Bob "The Teapot" Grokes; played by . Rob Faust abandoning his wife and daughter to return.to his glory days as an 'outlaw and a member of the .gang The Unconquerable Few. Bob, accompanied by his simple and awkward nephew Winny Colp, (Jason Penner/McDonald) soon meets up with one of his old part- ners in crime Clel Miller (Mike Wilrnot) and the fun soon ensues. Ausable's production of Bob the Teapot offers some memorable and rich performances including Jeff Culbert's portrayal of an aging bounty hunter, ,or Deborah Lynn Ferguson as the title character's high , strung, law -of -the -land wife Jenny.' The theatre's founder/artistic di- rector Jeff Culbert first saw a ons - act version of Bob the Teapot dur- ing aproduction at London's Forest City Gallery. He loved what he saw and soon decided,to include k two - act version of the western comedy in the three play line-up of the'Aus- able Theatre's inaugural season. , ,Bob the Teapot will finish its run July 24-26. Following that production, the Lucan theatre group will finish out its season bay performing, Target Audience by Mary Crawford and Alan Templeton on Aug. 14-16 and 21-23.
