Exeter, Ontario on July 9. 1998, Mildred "Janie" Elizabeth (Elliott) McDowell of Centralia in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Clarence McDowell. Dear - mother of Janet McDowell and her husband Bruce Henderson -of Cambridge. Predeceased by her brother William "Bill" Elliott. Mildred was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8167, Exeter and a Lieutenant Nursing Sister during WW 11. Friends and relatives called at Dinney Funeral Home. (29) WITMER - Gilbert Charles (Gib) of Black Creek. B.C. passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox. on Tuesday, July 7; 1998 at age 65. Predeceased by his father Earl and his infant sister. Gib is survived by his mother, Kay Wilmer of Courtenay, B.C.; sister Joan (Chub) Lenz of Black Creek; niece Debbie (Larry) Dobinson of Black Creek; 4 great nieces and one great -great' niece. During the Korean War, he served in the Signal Corps with the Canadian Army and was a proud member of the Korea Veterans Association. i Gib loved the outdoor and will be fondly remembered as a kind, generous, caring person with a great sense of humor.
