Susan, daughter Of LeRoy and Elsie Keyes,. graduated on June 25th from Conestoga College, 'in Business Administration Management Studies. Love Mom and Dad A Point to Ponder by Rev. Vernon Dean Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle Time for another quiz. This one isa "marital Love" quiz • and, eomes from. a well known Christian radio talk show host and author, Dr. James Dobson.' •There are ten questions in this quiz. five tjtis week and live. next. 111 share my thoughts as well. So kick back, and take five minutes and answer these five questions yourself, TRUE OR FALSE? ' 1) 1 believe that love at first sight-oceurs between some people. ,2) !believe that it's easy to distinguish real love from , infatuation: •. 3).1 believe that people that sincerely love each other will not fight and argue. - • - 4) 1 believe that God selects one particular person for each of us to marry and He• will guide us together. 5):( believe that if a man_and`womttn-genuinely love each other • that. hardships anti trouhles.will have very. little effect on their relationship. • Here's my thoughts: I) Absolutely not. If someone falls in love at first sight - what is it they have fallen _in love with.. The musical group called "The Dam's" hada top hit hack in the 70's which stated, "Hello, -.I love you, won't -you tell me your nary:." It is possible to be attracted at.11rst sight. -.but truelove must develop` out of friendship which is cultivated with time. • - ' • Some couples who thought they.were in love from first, sight, tell out of love as the "sight" changed. FALSE. ; 2) 1 wish it were but the statistics state otherwise. More than half of the marriages taking place today -end in divorce 'Few if any of these brides and grooms to bc,•think they are getting married based on infatuation.- They believe they are truly in love. Those of us who are a little -older can sometimes discem that true love isbased more on giving. and infatuation by definition means lo inspire by foolish and unreasoning passion and attraction." Sorry, FALSE again. _ • . - . 3) PALSE. In my opinion, any couple that -never has a _ disagreement, is probably not hcing open and honcsF with -one another. Some couple's I know.fit this category and " keep the peace at all costs." Because we are all immperfect people raised in an imperfect `world differently; we will sec thing` differently. Having 'a good healthy constructive fight or disagreement is not damaging or wrong. The secret -is to continue to love and yet "speak the truth in love" as the Bihar instructs.us. . 4)'Ofatl the ten quiz questions; I bclievcithis one is most up for debate. 1 believe that God does guide us to the right person to be our spouse. The Scriptures declare that " the steps of a righteous -man are ordered by the Lord." Of course. we arc note . righteous in and of ourselves but rather because of Christ's - righteousness we can appropriate that Scripture verse. There are many godly Christian men,and women who believe that there arc any one of many that we could get married to and God would - bless the manage. • However, my answer -is TRUE. • - ', 5) I also wish this were true but it is FALSE. Major hardships affect even the most stable marriages. To a mature couple who have built their relationship on Christ and godly principles, hardships and trials with strengthen their relationship, but there will definitely be an• effect on the relationship - onc.way or the - other. - S t= r y tuned next week fothe next five quiz. questions.
