Swimmer's Ear is a painful, itchy infection of the ex- ternal ear that can develop from long periods of swimming. It's caused by water becoming trapped in the ear making it an ideal breeding ground fot bacte- ria. .. ~ To help prevent this -condition, shake your head to remove the water after swimming and dry the ears with a corner of your towel. You can also make a solution of 1 part white vinegar and one part rubbingalcohol and install 1-2 drops. This will help dry the ear out. - If you live in an area where summer temperatures and humidity are high, take care. Your body's cooling process wilt not work as efficiently in these conditions. You will tire easily and your heart works harder. Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid caffeine and alcohol -containing beverages which can dehydrate the body. You can also reduce your protein and fat intake. These foods increase the body's heat production. Eat more fruits and veggies. And avoid prolonged exertion in this weather. HURON APOTHECARY Ltd.
