The village applied for and got $30,1(X) from the province's Special Cir- cumstances Fund, a grant program meant to help municipalities deal with 'special' concerns due to provincial downloading. Village staff got the news last week. Village administrator Ron Reymer said staff and Council felt the prov- ince had over charged Lucan by $30,000 under the 1.7 per cent across the hoard cost savings the province wanted each municipality .10 find. The province -first wanted Lucan to find $59,(00 per year savings in its budget, then dropped the figure to $56,00. Reymer said the figure was still too high according to his numbers so he applied for the Special Circumstances Fund grant. . "1 guess they agreed with us," Reymer said. "We're more than happy to, accept it, but it's a one shot deal." . In other Lucan news, Middlesex MPP Bruce Smith announced Friday Lucan will get $6,00 from the province under its Connecting Link Pro- gram. The money will pay for paving the Saintshury/Main intersection that was dug up last year as part of the village's extension Of its sewer line into Biddulph Township. Bike watch Arrow straight.
