A job well done "Within ten minutes the truck arrived...." Dear Eiditor. East Friday night during.thc electrical storm. there was a spectacular fireworks display when a trans- former blew on John Street. The result was that sev- eral homes were without electricity. I phoned the after hours PUC telephone number. left a message and had someone phone me hack within minutes to tell me that a repair truck would be there shortly. Within ten minutes, thc truck arrived and shortly after the repair was completed. Thanks. to the efficient, courteous staff of the Exeter PITC for a job well done' J. Clarke A secret garden "Decorating such an expansive area is a trying task... Pr Dear F.duor: On June'5, 1998. the South Huron District High School gym was transformed into the Secret,Garden for the annual formal. - Decorating such an expansive arca is a trying task, which would not have been p(issihle without the greatly appreciated help of.many community busi- nesses and volunteers. The businesses that loaned their services include- Green Care Landscaping, -Do - it Centre, Exeter Flowers. Country Flowers. Village Vines of Hensall, Centralia College. P.S. Weddings Etc., and Canadian Tire.- We ire.-We would also like to thank all the volunteers who graciously donated their time and effort. espe- cially Mrs. Shore. Mr. McKee and his construction crew. Mrs, Dougall and her students, Ms. Ruddick. the custodians. the School Advisory Council and all our family and friends. Thank you. We appreciated it and could not have done it without you The Forma{ Committee '9ft Theresa Wilhelm. Chairperson ► Your head is precious and so is mine "It is good to see adults protecting themselves and being good role models for'children ." Dear Editor The June 8 front page of thc Toronto Star featured the 12,0}0 cyclists who took part in the "Ride tor Heart" fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. -The photo showed hundreds of adult cyclists all appearing to he wearing helmets except for one person. Most helmets also appeared to he worn properly to protect the- forehead. It is good to sec, adults protecting themselves and being good role models for children. A parent who insists that his or her child wears a helmet properly Is saying "Your head is precious." A parent who then puts on his or her own helmet is saying "My head is precious too." - Congratulations to organizations who encourage safe events: to photojournalists who take photos of safe practices and to the cyclists who practice safe recreation. The Huron Perth Injury Prevention Committee encourages all cyclists to have a safe, healthy and happy summer. Bicycle Safety Subcommittee. Kathryn Bjorkquist. The Canadian Red Cross Societe.
