Bill Brock named Hawks G.M.
EXETER — Bill Brock will be pushing the paper for the Exeter
Jr. D Ha*ks hockey club.
Brock was officially named the team's general manager last week.
Brock brings a wealth of hockey knowledge to the mix with over 20
years coaching/managing in the Exeter Minor Hockey system, the
past eight years as the Exeter midget Generals manager. Three of
those eight years were with coach Scott Bogart who was recently
named the Hawks head coach and the past few with Dave Dalrymple
who is one of the Hawks assistant coaches.
"I'm looking forward to it," Brock said of his post with the
Hawks. "It should he an exciting and interesting challenge."
He said he isn't starting with a blank sheet since he has watched
many of the Exeter Minor Hockey products that could be back with
the Hawks for many years and has even managed some of them. He
has also worked closely with Bogart and Dalrymple before and all
three have the same philosophy when it comes to coaching.
The coaching staff and Brock will meet later this week to hammer
out the plan for the '98/99 season. Brock's duties will mainly in-
volve administrative matters and he said he'll leave the coaching up
to the very capable Bogart team.
"I'm just going to help. with the paperwork," he said. "My job is to
make things run as smooth as possible for the coaches and the ex-
ecutive."
Hawks president Tom McCann said Brock will serve as both the
league liaison for the coaches/executive and the liaison between the
coaches and the executive.
McCann added Hawks trainers Jon Passmore, Brent McDonald
and Mike Soldan will be back with the team next season.
Cents go 1-1 in
last week's games
MT. BRYDGES — The Exeter
Centennials men's soccer club
looked less than ordinary in a 5-1
loss at Mount Brydges on Sunday.
Dave Farquhar scored the Cents
Ione goal from the penalty spot.
The Centennials played a tight de-
fensive game at home on Wednesday
in a 1-0 win over London Scottish.
Sean Beattie and Shawn Rotteau
worked with sweeper Nick Szabo to
keep the defensive wall strong fore-
• g the shots to come from the out -
de so keeper George McEwan
could simply scoop them up.
Exeter got their goal when John
D'Ianni fed Scott Rasenberg with a
perfect lead pass which he shot by
the charging Scottish keeper.
The Cents record is now 4-3.7 hey
