Problems on Shoreline Dr.
GRAND BEND - Bill Shouldice
wants council to either close Shore-
line Dr. to traffic or make the road
a two-way street.
Shouldice, president of the
Southcott Pines Property Associa-
tion (SPPA) is representing prop-
erty owners from the road who are
tired of people disobeying the onc-
way sign posted for the road.
"The entrance is becoming a real
problem," said Shouldice. "People
arc blatantly violating it and it is
especially had on long weekends."
A stretch of Shoreline Dr. was
made a one-way street three years
ago when the association and prop-
erty owners complained that the
volume of traffic was too high.
'The one-way street is not doing
what it was intended to do," said
Shoudicc
Roads chairperson for SPPA Jim
Karry is also concerned about the
violations.
"The violations arc fla-
grant...people are making an hon-
est mistake driving down the road,"
said Karry. "People just don't want
to drive around to another en-
trance."
"We arc dealing with historical
traffic patterns here but violations
should be enforced," said Karry.
Both Karry and Shouldice agree
that SPPA members are also guilty
of ignoring the one-way signs.
A clear message. The signs posted on Shoreline Dr. regarding
the one-way street.
Council will inform the village
OPP detachment about Shouldice's
complaint.,
"The OPP arc the only ones who
can enforce this because of the
Highway Traffic Act." said Mayor
Cam Ivey.
i think if they start handing out
tickets it could help change the be-
havior." said Karry. -However we
don't expect Grand Bend to park a -
police officer there all the time."

LUCAN - We hear you, but a

That's what Lucan council es-

terested in building a home at the
end of the deadend on Oak St. but
don't want to pay for roadwork up
to village standards across the
home's entire frontage.
At last week's council meeting.
Ondrejicka presented an updated
proposal of what she and builder
Ron Pronchuck plan to do.
Ondrejicka has applied to sever
the lot which is smaller than the vil-
lage's bylaw requires for the con-
struction of a home. The proposal
calls for the construction of a small
home on the lot and a 10'-15' sec-
tion of road, gutters, curbs and side-
walks to run to the home's drive-
way with a gravel to run past the
rest of the lots 100' frontage. She
also plans to apply for a minor var-
