Lucan summer skating .camp LUCAN — Figure skaters can get a blade up on the competition at the Lucan summer skating camp run by directors Marg Carey and Alma and Carol Moir. Offered will be five-week day camps from junior, senior tied ' competitive skaters that will run Monday -Friday from June 26 -Aug *4, There will also be an evening competitive program that runs Aug. 4-14. Mitchell honors a legend MITCHELL — The hometown of the greatest hockey player in the first half of this century, Mitchell Meteor Howie Morenz, is honoring him.hy including his name on all four of its entrance signs. • The total cost for the four signs that will say that Morenz was a native of Mitchell is $44,000. Three of the signs have already been erected with the footings for the fourth already in place. The second annual Morenz banquet and awards night is on May 30 at the Mitchell & District Community Centre. The banquet is alsoa fundraiser for the signs project. Mitchell Minor Sports will announce its outstanding hockey player at the banquet and the Mitchell Bruce Sawyer female and male athetes of the year will be t announced. Special guests scheduled to be at the banquet include members of the Morenz family, an unconfirmed representative from the Montreal Canadiens' alumni and hockey radio and television personality Jim Ralph.
