saw -McGregor and four other Exeter OPP officers lose their
hair for the Canadian Cancer Society. The Exeter event; one

Theschool show "Blood Relations" was a big success. The perfor-
mances on both Thursday and Friday night were excellent. The cast
-and. crew of "Blood Relations" have been -working together since late
November and all of their hard work paid off in the success of their
• show. Congratulations to everyone who was in the show or helped to
put it together. -It turned out to be a great show!
Student council elections arc officially over. Speeches and voting
took place on Friday, May 22. The positions of the :1998-1999 student
•council 'are Sarah, Vermunt as premier, Julie Darling 'and Marcy
• Swance as co-deputyypremiers, Jesse Bergman as social convener; Ja-
mie Reahurn as athletic chairperson, Harmony Spivy and Katie Fox as
grade ten representatives and Sarah Hodge 'and Jan Fischer as grade
11 representatives: ' .
Several other positions for next 'year's student councilhave' not y'et
been decided:'A selected council will go through applications and ay -
point the remaining positions this week. An updated outlineof next
year's student•council will be included in next'weck's Panther Profile.
The big school trip to the air expo will be on Wednesday, June 3.
The entire school will ho travelling to ,Huron Park for the day. The
trip includes watching the air show and attending the career fair -held
there.
- The athletic banquet is scheduled for• Tuesday; June 2. Everyone
who has played.on any school sports team is invited to the school that
night for supper. and awards after. It is' a night of fun and recognition
for South Huron's athletes: .
Exams are only a few weeks away. The -last day of classes will be
Monday, June 15. This year exams will be running from. Tuesday,
June 16 until Monday, June 22. -

cafeteria from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Spanish class fiesta from 1 to 3:30

Drive Inn at Shipka in the 1960s?
The song leader at that time was
Rev. Dr. Robert J. •Graham of
Huron Park, who was guest speaker
at 'the. Grand Bend .United Church
Women's meeting on May 14. He
also sang several sacred songs and
hymns accompanied by his wife
Ellen on violin and Idella.Gabel at.,
the piano. Rev. Graham recalled
that Harry Hoffman of Dashwood
helped with singing also.
Annie Zielman spent Mother's
Day with daughter Angie and Mark
Bousfield, Dirk and Madison at
• Simcoe. Later in the week she visit-
ed her brother Bill and Ellen Janzen
at Leamington forher brother's
60th birthday, and then on to Essex
to•_daughter Susie and Wayne
Robson, Colin,. Breagh and Sheina,
for a short visit. -
Another landmark in the village
'disappeared last week. when the
buildings -were moved to another
*location from the Imperial Fuel
business run by the late Art Webb,
and later by the late Cliff Russell
and sons, and lately by Anderson
Fuels of Strathroy.

Day were .all her family, Suzanne

First phase of project passes
GRAND BEND The proposal to build a bath house on Grand Bend's
beach ik one step closer to becoming a reality.' - . -
' Council passed 'a motion_on Tuesday to proceed with- phase one of the
-- proposal by Breivik, Scorgie; Wasylko, Morrison'to build the bath house.
• Council received -a recommendation from the Community Enhancement.
Advisory Committee to proceed after the committee met with the firm.
The motion was passed with the condition that the architectural firm be
prepared to participate in the public meeting process.
Mayor Cam Ivey commented that the public meeting to discuss the pro- •
posal will be held over the -summer but an exact -date hasn't been set.
"By the end of June the firm -will be able to provide the public with a
conceptualized drawing of the beach scape and provide a dollar amount of
how much the project will cost," Ivey said. -

The- London Conference of. the
United Church. of Canada was held '
•at Centralia International Academy
from May 22 to May 24. Everyone
from Centralia United Church was
invited to participate .in worship at
2 p.m. on Sunday.
The service was very well orga-
nized. Special music was provided
by the Blyth Festival Orchestra
with Conductor James Ford and
Brian 13elleth, the soloist.
The highlight of the service was
the ordination, commissioning and
recognition of several candidates to
the ministry. Rev. Glen Wright was
the ordination minister. . •

The U.C.W. are planning a pot-
luck picnic ;dinner on June 4 at 6
p.m. at Centralia Community Park.

ed. In case of rain it will be held in
the church basement.
Centralia Faith Tabernacle
A Praise Rally to learn songs for
the March for Jesus will lie held on
Thursday, May 28 from 7:30 to 9
p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church.
This year's celebatory march will
be Saturday' May 30, beginning at
1:30 p.m. in Exeter.
There will be a Gym Night for
the youth this Saturday, May 30 at
7 p.m. at Exeter Pentecostal
Church. All youth are welcome to
attend.

Plant auction
Plant lovers heaven. The Grand Bend and Area Horticultural Society held their third annual plant auction on Monday
night. Both a live and silent auction were held to sell plants donated by local individuals and businesses. Last year the
auction raised over $700 for the horticultural society. Pictured above is horticultural member Hank Ford.

sessions on its dust suppressant and road binder product
Dombind.
The purpose of the public information sessions is to provide
information and answer public inquiries regarding the
manufacture and use of Dombind dust suppressant and its
application on rural roads in Ontario.
