Centennials chilled by Chatham
CHATHAM — The Exeter Cen-
tennials didn't even have luck on
their side during 'a 3- I loss to Chat-
ham on the road on Sunday during
their second Western Ontario Soc-
cer League Division Ii game.
Cents spokesperson/goalkeeper
George McEwan said he and his
teammates "were bad from the
back to the front.
"It's the kind of loss we
shouldn't have incurred." he said.
"It could come back to haunt us
(later in the season)."
Nick Szabo scored Exeter's lone
goal on a penalty kick in the second
half.
The Cents fell behind early when
they failed to clear a Chatham cor-
ner kick — the ball bounced off
two Cents defenders who tried to
clear it before the ball found its
way in the net.
Exeter's Shawn Boileau was
shown a red card by the referee in
the first half and the Cents then had
to play the rest of the game with a
man short.
The Cents next host St. Thomas
at Nabisco (Canners) Field on Sun-
day at 6 p.m.
The team plays its first Cup game
on May 27 at home versus Blue -
water Premier, a 6:30 p.m. start.
