Youth group heading to rally in Aylmer

ZURICH - A potluck supper and
games night. was held at St.
Boniface Parish Hall by the Youth
Club and their families last.
Thursday. Leaders are Denise
Meidinger, Diane Miller and Karen
Grainger. •
The group is planning a bus trip
to the Northern Light youth rally in
Ay:mer .on May 23, leaving the
church at 7:45 a.m. and returning at
8 p.m: The 'Cost will be $20 per per-
son for the day,•which includes
meats. Phone Denise as soon :
possible for a permission slip.
The Youth Club is also selling
chocolate covered almonds at $2.
per box to raise money for a trip to
Canada's Wonderland on July 13.
Tickets cost $25.
Pupils of the Zurich Public
School are to be congratulated on a
job well done. The musical play
Ducktails and Bobby Sox was just
terrific. The gym was packed both
nights.
A .retreat was held at Oxley
Retreat House recently with Retreat
Master Sister Rose Rau. Those
attending were Julie Gelinas,
Shelley Hoffman, Jane Lansbergen,
Zurich and Theresa Ryan of
Kinkora.
The Ladies Auxiliary held their
last meeting on May 5, beginning
with "a musical program and danc-
ing in the auditorium.
Gladys Gingerich chaired the
business. Mary Lou Denomme
gave minutes of the last meeting
and Mary Ducharme read the trea-
surer's report.
A letter was read from the
Agricultural Society asking to send -
two representatives to the next fair
board meeting at the Town Hall on
May26at8p.m.
Gladys and Helen Otterbein
pinned corsages on all the women
in the home for the Mother's Day
tea on Saturday.
A birthday party will he held on
May 14 hosted by the Grand Bend
United Church.
The next meeting will be held
June 2 at 2 p.m. with a program at
3 p.m. followed by a picnic supper.
Anyone wanting to take a bus
trip to the March for Life day in
'Ottawa on May 14 can phone Mary
Jacobs for more information at
262-2013.
The Golden Agers get together to
do exercises at the town hall every
Monday- afternoon at 1 p.m. All
ages are welcome.
On May 5 the Brownies and
Guides and their mothers and some
grandmothers went to Millington's
Restaurant in Brucefield for a
Mother's Day Tea.

HENSALL - The hi•ghlight ofihe
week was -May 7 when Mother's
Day was celebrated with a baby.
and toddler show. Staff brought in
children anti grandchildren for resi-
dents to enjoy. All the children had
the opportunity to choose a prize
from the selection of door prizes.
Later in the day, Jack and Irene
Vincent provided an afternoon of
entertainment and music.
Following the program a chocolate
trifle was served. .
Qucensway's volunteer
Auxiliary met Monday morning
and welcomed a new member Elly
Rcitsma. The Auxiliary's biggest
event to prepare for this month is
the annual Hensall community yard
sate. Their booth will be on the cor-
ner of Queen and Nelson Streets on
May 30 with great deals and barbe-
cued food..
The Tuesday church service was
led by Lay Reader, Pat Dobbs of
Exeter Anglican Church. Her mes-
sage was "God Listens to Our
Prayer". Louise Rether Kopp.
Maude Connon, pianist,• Belva
Fuss, organist, and Marg Cole also
assisted.
Breakfast Group with volunteer
Kay Mock enjoyed cheese omelet,
bacon and toast along with coffee
or tca, Wednesday morning with
.their current events.
Wednesday afternoon residents
Thad Bible Study with Pastoral Care
volunteer, Winnie Hutton.
Following Bible Study, Hutton vis-
ited with several residents.
Volunteer Kay Mock was in
Friday to assist with flower arrang-
ing as each dining room table was
graced with bouquets of fresh
spring flowers for the Mother's
Day weekend. Punch and refresh-
ments were available Sunday after-
noon for residents and their visitors
lin the newly decorated activity'
room. •

On Mother's Day, Carmel and
Jerome Sweeney's five daughters
were home for a family get-togeth-
er. Jerodte's parents also attended.
They also celebrated Heather's
May 10 birthday.
Three pupils of St. Boniface
- School, Cody Ducharme, Jillian
Regier and Brandon LaPorte, made
their First Communion last week-
end at either Saturday or Sunday
Masses, conducted by Fr. Wronski.
Family celebrations were held
afterwards. •
Children from St. Boniface who
live on the Blue Water are also
making their First Communion
individually at St. Peter's, St.
Joseph by Fr. Morris.
A group communion for the
whole class will be held in Zurich
on May 24 at 11:00 a.m. Mass.
There will be a reception after-
wards.
Jacqui Bengough of Hensall
made her First Communion at
Precious Blood Church in Exeter
on Mother's Day. A family brunch
was enjoyed at Hessenland after-
wards. Her two grandmothers from
Hensall attended.
The Grade 8 class of Mr. Trocchi
spent last Friday participating in a
religious retreat at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church in Grand
Bend.- They will be making their
confirmation on May 31 in Zurich
at the 11 a.m: Mass.
A bake sale will be held on May
17 after the 10 a.m. Mass at St.
Peter's Church, St, Joseph in the
parish hall.. Donations will be
appreciated.
Congratulations to Doug and
Joyce McBeath on the arrival of
their first grandchild, a boy, Shawn,
born on May 1 to proud parents
Glenn and Angela P1cBeath of
Goderich.
Diane Vanasse of St. Johns.
Newfoundland, recently spent a
week visiting with her aunt
Francine, as she has finished her
school placement in Montreal. She
will be returning to Halifax for
another year of school. While here
they went to Niagara Falls and
Toronto.
Phyllis and Walter Bothwell,
Michigan spent a few days visiting
with Allen and Sharon
Brokenshire, Mildred Klopp and
Herb and Donna Klopp and others
in the area.
Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery goes to Sadi Klopp who is recu-
perating from a recent knee opera-
tion.
A 25th anniversary party was
held for Mary and Ken Glavin of
the Mt. Carmel area on . May 9 at
Centralia College. A supper was
held for their family and original
attendants -on May 11 at the
Harmony Buffet in London.
Herb and Donna Klopp spent the
weekend 'visiting. with their daugh-
ters, Martha in Toronto, and Diane
in Barrie, along with son Doug,
who joined them for Mother's Day.

Zurich, returned home on the week-
end after a two week holiday in
Texas visiting with daughter
Joanne and Pete Janzen where they
attended the First Communion of
their- granddaughter Jamie.
Kevin and Shelley Geoffrey and
family and Clarence and Beattie
Geoffrey recently attended the
wedding of Terry Geoffrey in
Tillsonburg. He is the son of
Jerome and Betty Ann. The family
of Clarence and Beattie were all
home for Mother's Day.
Birthday greetings to Cora
Palamaryk's nephew .Patrick
Lansbergen who turned 10 on May
10. Cora lives in Rhein,
Saskatchewan.
Happy belated 96th birthday
wishes to Vera O'Brien on May 3,
and to Jean Burr on May 5. Both
are residents at the Blue Water Rest
