Learning a healthy lifestyle
EXETER - Safe Homes for Youth in Huron hosted an information meet-
ing at the Exeter Legion on Thursday night.
The night's theme was "Investing in a Healthy Lifestyle." The 40 people
who attended learned about taking care of their wealth, lifestyle and lei-
' sure with three speakers:
Dave Gimbel represented Pints Unlimited and spoke about the value of
wine in a healthy lifestyle.
He said the natural acidity in wine balances food oils and fats and is crit-
ical in digestion. The acidity in wine combines with the mouth's enzymes
to enhance the taste of food.
But there's more to drinking wine with a meal than chemistry and diges-
tion.
"Wine's most important contribution is that it promotes relaxation. it
helps you linger over your meal," he said.
Paul Miller, an investment advisor with Gary Bean Securities in Exeter
spoke about the role of mutual funds, stocks and bonds in creating wealth.
"When it comes to wealth, you have an opportunity to have a cheque
come to you each month for the rest of your life. How big do you want
that cheque to be?" Miller asked the audience.
As a full-service investment company, Gary Bean Securities -staff can sit
down with clients to quantify the paycheque.
Doug Ellison spoke for Carlson Wagonlit Ellison Travel in Exeter. He
talked about the role of information in planning vacations.
"The -Internet is going to be the way we do business in the travel busi-
ness in the future," he predicted, adding his staff will be spending 35-40.
hours a week on the Internet to find travel information. -
Ellison's business is changing with the information age. His clients are
from around the globe as his company increases the number of people they
bring to Canada.
Pints Unlimited, Gary Bean Securities and Carlson Wagonlit Ellison
Travel sponsored the evening for Safe Homes.
The event was also a fund-raiser for the organization which helps more
than 500 families a year. Safe Homes provides safe residential care during
a crisis situation.
Donations are a crucial part of the survival of Safe_ Homes. Chairman
Bart DeVries said Safe Homes is grateful to have received $18,000 from
United Way to help cover its operating expenses. .
The organization would also welcome people interested in the board of
directors.

Vertical board and batten siding combined with a brick veneer creates a fashionable
exterior which is further enhanced by a multi-level roof with gable accents.
Enter through double doors into the foyer. A den, just inside the main entrance would make
an ideal home office, and boasts a 10'40 ceiling height and a -boxed out feature window.
A spacious private dining room offers a comfortable area for.formal entertaining. The
gourmet style kitchen provides plenty of cupboard and counter space, a work island, and a
pantry. The great room, open to the nook and kitchen, receives natural light from Overhead
skylights and windows all along the rear.
Upstairs, the games room could easily be converted into a fourth bedroom. The master is
truly grande, featuring a waik•in closet and a five piece ensuite with double sinks and a
raised soaker tub.
An unfinished basement awaits your own creative touch. .
