Johns Bowling a big part of Senior Games By Ron Dann ZURICH - Five pin. ten pin and lawn bowlers will provide a high per- centage of the com- petitors in this summer's Huron - Perth -Middlesex (H -P -M) District 29 Senior Ganies to be hosted by Mitchell June 15-16. London (District- 30) is not included in District 29 H -P -M Senior Games competition. -More than 20 five pin teams. with five on each team. numerous lawn bowling three member teams and several three bowler ten pin teams arc expected to enter by the May 26 H -P -M meeting at Mitchell. Because of unavailability of facilities, five pin is scheduled for Stratford Mike's Lanes Junc 15-16 while ten pin competition will be hosted by London. Fleetway Lanes June 9. Other sports included are carpet bowling, contract bridge, cribbage, crokinolc, darts. euchre. golf. horseshoes, floor shuffleboard. snooker, solo, swimming, tennis and walking. Community playoffs arc now underway to provide repre- sentatives to compete at Mitchell. District 29 H -P -M Gold medal winners from all the games. except crokinolc and solo, will advance to the 1998 Actifest Provincial Senior Games Championships August 16-- 18 at Windsor. Actifest is held every second year. Next year the Southwestern Ontario Regional Senior Games in Chatham will fill the void before Actifest• Provincial returns in the year 2000.
