United Church Women was held on April 27 and 28 at Dundas Street United Church in Woodstock. The "Celebration of Soup" on April 18 raised $748.50. It was "Good Shepherd" Sunday at Grand Bend United Church on Mav 3. Rev. R. Putman spoke to. the .tiildren of a shepherd caring for r his sheep. The scriptures were read by Ryan Murdock and the choir's anthem was "Brother James Air". • As Mark Raithby and Sherwood Eddy collected the morning offer- ing, the choir sang "May Day Carol". Grand Bend Golden Agers held their bi-weekly euchre games at the Legion hall on April 22 with seven tables in play. Winners were: Ladies high - Ada Dietrich; Ladies low - Dina Kelders; Ladies most lone hands - a tie between Norma Walper and Mary Moser; Mens high - won by Mary Waller playing a man'.s card; Mens low - John Kelders; Mens most lone hands - Ev Richardson. A crowd of about 350 people packed the gym from 7:30 until .10:30 p.m. Congratulations to the bands and vocalists for putting on a great show and thank •you to all who came out to support the music department at the cabaret. The South Huron bands will be attending a huge music competition in Cleveland this week.Students in the bands leave for the Cleveland competition on May 7. There arc sure to be some tough competitors but the bands at S.H.D.H.S. are some of the best. The South Huron musicians are dedicated and talented and will surely come out on top as usual. Good luck to the bands attending the competition in Cleveland this week! • The fashion show put on by the athletic department on. April 29 was also a big success. One showwas put on during the day for senior stu- dents and another was put on that night for the community. - S.H.D.H.S. students were used as models and modelled everything from sports wear to formal dresses and tuxedos. Thanks to everyone who came to the show and supported the athletic department. Con- gratulations to the athletic council headed by Lori Richardson for •making this annual event a success again this year! South Huron's last dance of the year will be held next week on May 14. This is a retro dance where everyone can dress -up in clothes from . other decades. The music will reflect the theme and you can be sure that you'll hear all your favorite oldies and a lot of disco. Tickets arc only. $1 and a huge crowd is expected so come out and enjoy the last dance of the year! - Upcoming events Wednesday. May 11 - Clinton boys soccer at South Huron. Tuesday. May 12 - girls soccer at Goderich, track and field meet. Wednesday. May 13- Track and field meet, "March for Arts" walk in the Pinery, Seaforth and St. Anne's boys soccer at South Huron.
