Talk on new treatments
for heart and stroke .
HENSALL - On April 30, a
presentation was given by Dr.
Englert on new heart disease and
stroke treatments at the Queens-
way Nursing .Home.•
The facility hosts a monthly
talk, primaril'ary on health related...
issues as part of their in -services
programming for staff and mem-
bers of the community.
Dr. Englert, Queensway's in-
house physician, advised the audi-
ence that common sense tactics
like not smoking, maintaining a
healthy low-fat diet, and exercise
were still the most -effective pre-
ventative methods. "The best
thing is to prevent with this dis-
ease." said E..glert.
. He also fielded questions from
the audience ranging from how to
determine when blood pressure is
dangerously high to the benefits
of aspirin consumption in com-
batting heart disease.
Dr. Englert. commented that
certain diuretics are' also ex-
tremely effective in preventing
heart disease in the elderly.
