Cleaning It up. Joshua Melenkamp, 5, left, and his mom
Debbie decided to take matters into their own hands to
clean up the former Grand Central Hotel 'lot on Main St. in
Lucan oh Friday. The duo spent three hours picking up gar-
bage and pulling dead 'weeds. Why did Joshua decide to do
the job himself? "Because it was really disgusting," he
said. Joshua and Debbie live on Alice St. and walk by the
lot almost everyday.
A Point to Ponder
by Rev. Vernon Dean
Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle
ow are 'you doing? 1 Mean how arc you really doing`'
Most people that I pose that question to usually say "fine"
purely out of habit. Maybe we all clo that. After all. the
inquirer probably doesn't•really want to know how 1 am.
But if you arc honest how would you respond to 'how are ybu?' It
seems that many people have a hard time in getting down and really,
answering such a basic question.• Many of the twelve step programs
on the market today begin by reminding us all that we need to come
clean and he honest with ourselves. i've been told that at AA meet-
ings, both men and women stand up and boldly .proclaim, "Hi, my
ifjnte is John, and rm an alcoholic." Of.course. tlltey use their own .
news instead. There is something liberating about being honest
about who we are and how we' are dbing. Don't get nlc wrong.
Most of us are not ready fora two hour dissertation on every prob-
lem you have ever had. But often, we can handle. more than just
"finc." So the nex't time •you are asked, try being honest:_ Let them
hear the real point of "how are you?"

The' school had its first "Black Light Rave" dance on Thursday,
April 23: It was one of the largest turnouts for a dance that SHDHS
has ever had: There was face and body painting and .sates of glow
sticks and necklaces. The DJ's that put it on did a great job and will
most likely be returning next year because of the success of the dance.
South Huron's next dance will be a retro dress -up dance in May.
Student council elections have been postponed until the week of
