Queensway news HENSALL - Fun and Fitness began the week at Queensway Nursing Home on Monday morn- ing. In -the evening residents played .Bingo with the Hensall Presbyterian w,omen.Ccccalia • Edgar. Mildred Gingcri-ch and activity staff provided entertain- ment at the Exeter Dining for,' Seniors program Tuesday after- noon. Edgar gave a• reading and Gingcrich sang and •read a poem. Volunteer Mare Cole assisted. ,Wednesday was a buoy day when Geri Fashions of London set up shop for residents and the •commu- nity in Queensway's activity room. They provided a selection of styles, •sites and colors for all tastes and everyone had. an enjoyable day browsing and buying their spring outfits. • Baking Group 'met Thursday afternoon and made date filled cookies and diabetic peanut 'butter cookies.Ten residents were in attendance. Friendship Friday in the retire-' mens home lounge benefitted from an appearance by Gary Boyle, singer, guitarist from London. His , easy listening selection of country, • folk, and his own compositions made for a wonderful evening of music. April 19 to 25 is Voluntccr . Megan Straw wilt travel to Iceland and Julie Darling will he going to Italy. Mayor Ben Hoogcnhoom is this month's winner of the Lions Trip of the Month Draw. Donations for the month totalled $4500, $1500 going toward the new sound system at South Huron Rec Centre and $3000 to Children of Chernobyl. Huron. Club members will be busy working at three comunity events: A yard sale will be held at the Do -it Centre April 25; the annual Fishing Derby is May 2 at Morrison Dam and McHappy day at McDonald's is May 6. Varna corres?on4ent• VARNA - Five 'Alive "Fun, Friendship and Family" was held at $tie Brucefield Church on Sunday evening. The Fives -Alive consists•of five churches coming together; _ Bayfield, Varna, Goshen, Kippen and Brucefield. The organ and piano, prelude 'was by Donna McBeath and Beth Cooper. • "Get Me to the -Church" in Time" skit was portrayed by Bob Wilson, Ryan Cantelon: Shannon Dawn Cooper, Beth Cooper and Gordon Kurtz. This was.a funny skit, show- ing the way things happen on a Sunday morning. Dave Townsend, master of cere- monies, "gave the welcome and opening remarks. .The Friendship Choir led by Jan: Easton sang many numbers and one of their members: played the -guitar while "Jesus Loves Me" was sung. Paul Consitt is one.of the members in this choir. A Friendship Verse was read by Helen Keys.- • Guest speaker. Was Jane Hoy, program co-ordinator for Rural Response for Healthy Children. The offering was dedicated to Community Living for South Huron. Rev. Tracy Crick gave the dedication - A Scottish Cc (tic Band called "Toirm" consisting of some youth from Goderich and area did several numbers. Dave Townsend then thanked everyone who took part in the pro- gram. • "The Pecan Pic Isn't The Only Thing That's Not All It's Cracked Up To .Be" was portrayed by Art and Jean Bennett.. Rev. Cheri Dinovo gave the blessing and benediction and refreshments were thcn served.
