By Carmel Sweeney Zurich correspondent ZURICH - Many children in Zurich had fun at the Easter Egg Hunt at the public school play- ground on Satuday morning. The Optimist Club put on this yearly event. For anyone wanting to know more information about the I.P.M. '90, beginning in April a monthly meeting will ,he going around the county and is open to the public to attend. it will always he held the last Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The first one will he in D:•shwood at the Community Centre on April 30. Four Lions attended the annual Lions Club Convention in Strafford from March 27,to 29. At their last mee..ng on April 8, plans were made for an'elimination draw to he held at the Zurich Fair in July. The grand prize will he $1.000. Dr. Helen Reusser will he speak ing at the Mennonite Church on April 18 frdm 9 a.m. to 12 noon, with the theme "The Lord's Prayer... Anyone planning to attend should call the contact person of their parish as soon as 'possible or call the Mennonite Church at 236- 4933. The next meeting for the Chamber of Commerce will he at the Dominion Tavern on_ April 21 with supper beginning -at 7,p.m. Some members of the Mennonite Church entertained the residents at the Rest Home with an Easter Cantata on Thursday night. Sunrise services were held on the ,weekend at St. Peter's Ltitheran Church, and at the United Church in Dashwood, and followed by a parish breakfast. The Parkside Drive inn will he opening up for the summer months on April 15. Anyone with empty pop cans can' leave them .at the home of Ralph Smith or Doug Debus in Zurich or John Jacobs in •Hensall this week. Members of St. Boniface K. of C. will he cashing the cans in for the Bell Tower fundraising project. Ten members of the Auxiliary went to the Region #3 annual spring meeting in New Hamburg at the Nithview Nursing Home. Donna Klopp is now the president of Region #3 arca. The Sparks and Brownies delivered Girl Guide cookies around Zurich on Tuesday in place of their regular meeting. If -anyone was missed and wants to buy some cookies at $3 per box can still do so by calling Ruth Zielman at 236-4712 or Nicole VerOude at 236-7631 as soon as possible. St. Boniface School Council will' meet in the gym tonight, Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All parents are welcome. The Agricultural meeting of the fair board will be held at the , Township hall on April 16 at 8 p.m. The Mother's Day Tea and Bazaar will he held at the Blue Water Rest Homo on May 9 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The ,Golden Agers will he, having their next euchre party at ,the Town Hall on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $2 at the door which includes lunch and door prizes. -The children of Cheryl and Martin Gelinas entertained the resi- dents to a' musical program last Tuesday at the Ladieti Auxiliary meeting. President Martha Risi got things set up for the May Tea and Bazaar. There will he draws on a crib quilt, a decorated cake and a grocery hamper. There will he a bake table and craft tables. Personals Allan and Isabel Gascho cele- brated their 50th anniversary on Saturday at the Dominion Tavern along with their three daughters and husbands and' families. The guests enjoyed a turkey dinner fol- lowed by a social evening with musical entertainment and readings from family members and grand- children. The family of Earl and Anne Flaxhard had their annual outdoor Easter egg hunt and dinner at their parents' home. Martha and Willie Overholt entertained their family on Easter Sunday. There were family get-togethers at the homes of Mark and Cynthia Strickland, George and Maria Mathonia, Louis and Cecilia Farwell. Church and Tanya Erb, Mary -Lou Denonune. Victor and Irene Hartman. and Don and Donna O'Brien. Family members of Jerome and Carmel Sweeney and members of the Boyle family, 26 in all. enjoyed Easter Brunch at Erh's Country Kitchen followed by a social after- noon at the home of Heather and Paul Klopp. Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr. spent the Easter holiday week in Orleans at the home of daughter Melissa and Neil Francis and tray- elled to Ottawa by train. 'Harry and Wilma Pennings returned home recently after spend- ing the month of March in Florida. • Wayne Willert is hack home , front the sunny south. Len and Jean Leng are home ! again,aftcr a'two month vacation at South Padre island in Texas. The family of Jim and Veronica 'Bedard, and the family of Mozart and Julie Gelinas Sr. enjoyed Easter Sunday Brunch at Erh's Country Kitchen. A baby girl arrived just in time for Easter on April I I to Lisa and Frank Gillen in Ldndon. This is their second child. I'rodd grandpar- ents are Vesta• and Hubert Miller, Dashwood. The family of John and Bridget 'Groot entertained at their home on Faster Sunday. Congratulations to Archie and Madge Masse on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on April 10. The couple will he cele- brating with their family with din- ner at the Dominion Hotel on April 18. Huh and Mary Thiel and fancily and Helen Walker spent the week- end in Tecumseh to visit with Eileen and Bob LeBute and on Sunday went to church in Windsor where Pastor Jack Dressler is now stationed. Residents gathered in the lounge to enjoy the evening program. With June Stewart as chairman, members of the Carry On Cloggers danced several numbers and were joined with some of the older members. Shannon Dawn Cooper of Kippen favored everyone with her step dancing. Sant Skinner and Doris Denham entertained with their dancing girls and horses with Jean Hodgert, Ken Duncan and Bill Rohde supplying the music. The Riverview Ramblers line dancers danced several numbers. A short business meeting was held and members were reminded of the craft show at the Ranch House on April 25 and 26. The institute quilt will he on display and there will he tickets for sale. Plans were made for the annual meeting to be held at Thames Road Church on April 29. All members are asked to bring articles for the Children's Hospital. Institute members are selling cheese during the month of April. Anyone interested can contact a W.I. member.
