all people before the almighty dollar? Money can't
buy good health. Cancer doesn't differentiate •
between rich or poor. Neither does disease. Bigger is
not always Netter.
What sickens me is.the government agencies clos-
ing beaches telling people that it is unsafe to swim
in. yet this same water is piped to London, Lucan
Ilderton, Exeter and other small communities, and -
being told it is "safe" to drink.
Let us learn from the mistakes of Holland, North
Carolina and Southern Alberta before it's too late.
North Carolina's politicians were Nought by big cor-
porations. Are ours? 1 wonder if now there is
remorse because money can't buy clean water.
Everyone now has to live with the problem.
This is not just affecting this generation but future
generations. Are we prepared for the consequences'?
Everyone poliutes.hut please, let us work together
to ensure that we can all have clean, safe water for
today and tomorrow.

Two fires set on
west edge of Exeter
EXETER - The Exeter and Area
Fire Department was called out to
fires north of Huron Street and the
Anne Street Drain and west of the
railway tracks last Tuesday evening
and late Sunday afternoon.
The Tuesday fire was set within a
small woodlot and hurned off the
evergreen needles. It was contained
within the woodiot.
The Sunday afternoon grass fire
was also set and was to the west of
the woodiot. It also hurned the
grass along the drain.
Fire Chief John Morgan said the
police are investigating and have
the names of the individuals who
set the fires.
He said the biggest concern is
that the people who set the fire
could easily burn themselves. Al-
though firefighters wear protective
gear, there is always the danger of
injury.
"it looks innocent enough but if
the fire ever got going, the woodiot
would he gone in a few minutes,"
he said, adding the arsonists could
easily get caught within the burning
trees.
Morgan estimated extinguishing
the two fires cost $1,500 in man-
power and direct costs.
