Davis Saintsbury correspondent SAINTSBURY - St. Patrjck'S celebrated their evening prayer. ser- vice on Saturday at 7 p.m. with Suzanne Davis leading the service. Kimberley Kelley assisted with the scripture readings and Margaret Carroll gave the meditation based on the readings for the fifth Sunday in Lent. The children's focus was given by Hazel Davis entitled "Mary's Gift of Love." On April 5, St. Patrick's will cel- ebrate their Holy Eucharist service at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Stanley Jay officient. Several school friends visited with the Davis children during the spring break. The MacGillivray children, Courtney, Katie -Scarlett, Caleb and Corbin were overnight.visitors Friday and Saturday with grandpar- ents Hugh and Hazel Davis. Suzanne Davis visited with her mother Dorothy Dietrich on the weekend. A large crowd of relatives, neighbors and friends attended the surprise party honoring Viola Atkinson on her 80th birthday Sunday afternoon, hosted by her family at St. Patrick's parish hall. The hall was decorated with spring flowers and balloons. Great -grand-. daughters Kailee and Jesica Kemps attended the guest hook. Congratulations to great -great- grandmother Mary Davis on (he birth of Cody Steven, horn March 26 to parents Chris and Kim Kundcr (Greenlet) of London. FAMILY Sunbeam children to search for Easter eggs Rhoda Rohde Thames Road correspondent THAMES ROAD - The fifth Sunday of Lent church service was held on Sunday morning at Elimville with Rev. Jock Tolmay in charge. Kelly Miners gave the welcome, announcements and led in the call to worship. She read about the fifth candle 1'or Lent which represents faith- lessness. Rev. Tolmay told the children a story "About Sharing." The choir sang "For God So Loved the World" accompanied by the pianist Jean Hodgert. Kelly Miners read scriptures. The title of the sermon was "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet." Barry and Diane Jeffery received the offering as well as being the greeters. The Committee meeting of the church will he held at 7 p.m. and the Council meeting will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 1 at Thames Road Church. WOTCH-Club Huron (Western Ontario Therapeutic Community Hostel) located in Exeter is launching a fundraising campaign requesting some financial assistance to raise funds for a 12 passenger van. Any size of a donation would be gratefully accepted and a tax receipt will be issued. For more information contact WOTCH-Club Huron at 235-0335. Sunbeams will meet April 2 at Thames Road at 9:30 a.m. for an Easter egg hunt. On April 5 at Thames Road Church there will he an evening of gospel music. Entertaining will be Harmony -4 Quartet from Brampton, Echoes of Faith Trio from Stratford, and Roy Dreaning, an Irish soloist. A Couples Night Out is planned on April 19. Guest speakers will be Roy and Faye Docking. Supper will he at 6 p.m. at Thames Road, $15 per person. The event is sponsored by the Christian Education Committee. Tickets are available from Sharon Pavkeje, Janet Coward, Karen Etherington, Marg Stewart and Carolyn Johns. Tickets must be purchased by March 29. Please note change of date. A regular church service will be held at Thames Road on April 5 at 9:45 a.m. A Good Friday Communion service will he held at Elimville on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. On April 12 at 8 a.m., an Easter Sunday Sunrise service is planned at Thames Road, followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m. An Easter service will follow at 9:45 a.m. There are sign-up sheets located in each church to reg- ister for breakfast. On April 19 a regular church service is planned at Elimville at 9:45 a.m. Lilies can be placed in memorial on Easter Sunday at Thames Road. Congratulations to Phil and Marjorie Johns on the occasion of their 52nd wedding anniversary. Their whole family attended church on Sunday morning at Elimville and then they went out for lunch. Birthday party at Queensway HENSALL - Residents of Queensway Nursing Home enjoyed. challenging word games and lots of singing and exercise during Fun and Fitness throughout the week. Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary were in for exciting games of bingo on Monday afternoon. -Rev. Boyachuk of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Exeter officiated Tuesday afternoon's church ser- vice. Belva Fuss accompanied on the organ. Several nursing home residents enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of pancakes and bacon during Wednesday morning's Breakfast Club. Laughter could be heard from the activity room as residents watched Wednesday afternoon's movie "Dennis the Menace."
