. the topic .was Historical Research
and thc roll call was answered with
an historic site visited. Thc motto
was 'a backward glance may en-
courage forward strides'. Muriel
Lewis chaired the meeting opening.
with .a poem, 'Just trust'. As pro=
gram convenor, Lewis. also read the
history of coffee and -the coffee
h'reak, an updated- history of the
Granton Arnca as well as the 'Fact
or Folklore Story of Ontario'
(which she had written for a com-
petition in 1989). Other program in-
cluded interesting pumpkin facts,.
some humourous diet tips and a
chuckle for thc day. .
• Thc secretary, Florence McRo-
hcrt read a letter from Old Ports-
mouth WI in England with whom
Granton WI has been correspond-
'ing. and also an invitation to the 4H
achievement night. on, April 8.
- Business discussion included a
donation fo Pennies for Friendship
.. and, payment of the Rally Fee for
-the District Annual in 'Strathroy on'
May 12. Further plans were made
to plant shrubs, etc at the cenotaph
as well as grass' cutting on, the
grounds: -

SAINTSBURY - On March 19,
eight ACW members from St.
Patricks met for coffee and dessert
at 7 p.m. at Hazel.Davis's home
prior to their March meeting.
An early .singing of Happy
Birthday and surprise cake for
member Viola Atkinson who will
celebrate her 80th birthday March
30, 1998 was enjoyed by everyone.
Margaret Carroll led the service
opening with Members Prayer and- -
General Thanksgiving in unison.
Prayers for Sunday School led by
Chris Kramer. Prayer Partner
Simon Beaver Jr. Ied•hy Suzanne
Davis. Absent members remember-
ing Mary Davis, Rose Cunningham
and Kim Kelley was led by Viola -
Atkinson, Remembering the sick
with special prayer for Cole Martin,
nephew of Suzanne Davis who is in
Children's Hospital by Heather .

Scripture readings for Lent were
read by Chris Kramer, Margaret
Carroll. and Heather MacGillivray.

Secretary and Treasurer's reports
were read and approved. St.
Patrick's Day Fundraiser has been
successful with Tots of food orders.

SAINTSBURY - On March 19,
eight ACW members from St.
Patricks met for coffee and dessert
at 7 p.m. at Hazel.Davis's home
